Those comfy chairs at Starbucks...
Comments (30)Steve Galerkin here. I have been reading these post for a while now. I am the original designer and manufacture of the "Vista" chair and yes the Blues Clue Thinking Chair as well. I manufactured this chair (and some sofas) for Starbucks about seven years ago. It was a wing chair done up in a burgundy and brown velvet. I have been in contact with Starbucks to see if they want me to sell them direct, even though I no longer make the chair for them. Mitchell Gold did take over after a series of other manufactures took a stab at them. I never sold the Vista to Crate, so whatever they say do not believe them. I must admit our chair has lasted longer than the rest. Even at the headquarters in Seattle, they still have them in the their Lobby. I had some trouble getting the fabric long ago and the head of purchasing blamed me and cut me off (not a nice thing to do for sure). I feel it was a mistake on their part, but they were growing at such leaps and bounds during that period, everyone up at the home office was having a nervous breakdown. Lo and behold I fell victim to their caffeine induced rants. So be it, but I still see the influence of our chairs in their new locations around the world. We were the first company to supply Starbucks with "soft seating". The first store was in New York a number of years ago. What can I say, you just cannot keep up with a corporation whose sole goal is to corner the market on a certain commodity and eat all others alive (or should I say drink them up). .Say La Vee.....Steve Galerkin, Gardena, California...See MoreLooking for a Pretty Computer Chair...
Comments (33)This is listed as an office chair on HomeDecorators.com. I like it because of the French script on the back. I wonder if it would be conducive to adding casters to. I'm not able to post a pic of the Horchow chair I mentioned above. I'm becoming more drawn to it because of its taller, sleeker shape. I don't know. It just seems like it wouldn't overwhelm a room (especially one in which you don't want it to look like an office). Does anyone know what general type/shape chair that is? I keep thinking that style has a name to it, and that I could possible Google and find one cheaper than $900. Comments (30)I really like the ones with only an upholstered seat, particularly with kiddos. Unfortunately the completely upholstered ones like the last one pictured are exactly like the chairs we have in our offices where I work (as extra chairs and around conference tables) and the ones in my dentist's waiting room and at clinics, so I just can't get the 'office chair' look out of my head. As far as the 'pile of wood' goes, I think the open back of the ones you posted from the nearby store would look airier and make the room feel larger. It's such a beautiful room and table! Comments (20)Hailey I would have a finish carpenter come in and build you a wall unit against the wall with your new desk. It can be customized to be shallower on the sides to fit the area and deeper in the middle to actually site at. I would mount your computer screens on the wall of that center area (like a flat screen TV) so that when not in use cabinet doors can close over them. This way when you're not working your dining room is solely a dining room and you can eat there or entertain and your work mess is all stashed into the wall built in. Get your self a nice dining room table that can function as your work space during the day if you need to spread out. Get some comfy dining chairs. You will tire quickly of an office that has no possibility of being "put away " during your non working times. A desk never belongs in a dining room if it can be helped. Another option is to get a Murphy bed for your second bedroom so it can be an office until guests come. Congrats in your new home!...See Morerobo (z6a)
