In Canada we call it "Remembrance Day". The ones that we remember on this occasion are mainly the ones who lost their lives on the field of battle, and their service was completed at that time. We require that women and men be in top condition to join the military services. During their military service, many are grievously injured, in body, mind and/or emotion or spirit. For many, those injuries reduce their capacity to carry on and enjoy their lives well for years, even throughout the rest of their lives. When those who have served come home so broken, even to be unable to provide for themselves, and their families, their nation owes them to take care of them. We have not fulfilled those obligations well, as many of our veterans have not been able to provide for themselves and are among the homeless, wandering our streets. A substantial number, losing hope, take their own lives. We need to publicize this issue and build support among our citizenry for helping them, then our Department of Veterans' Affairs and our governments to care for these people who provided such loyal service at such great personal cost. ole joyful

As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladdin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with 7 men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac Man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies that always had the munchies. The fault is not mine!

Po-po is a slang word for the police, particularly ones who ride on motor bikes. Take Edgar Allan Poe add another Poe and he's Edgar Allen Poe-poe. That's my guess.

I didn't get the "Edgar Allan Poe Poe" one, either, so thanks for the explanatipn words as referring to the police.

But I don't remember ever having heard such words as related to police.

One has new things to learn, even at an advanced age, it seems ... if only I can remember it.

That dang computerized helper added some words here - and dragged me back to the top 4 times during my original story ... and 4 more during the first half of this sentence - now 4, then 5 more: 9 total!

I guess you guys don't watch law & order...the detectives show up and some wise guy looks at them and says, "Uh-oh...it's the po-po."

Sorry...I know it's not funny if you have to explain it...
