Thank you for all your complement and suggestions! I guess a few coats of paint did wonders to this repurposed dresser/night stand. the original dresser was really not pretty. That space is about 31"w x 24"d, the vanity is 30.5 w x 19" d, the rest of room is 64 x 59 Beth, you are right, it's a repurposed dresser/cabinet! I just sanded and painted. My original plan was to get a granite top, but I got lazy, so i kept the top instead, and hoping i can get away with multiple coats of polyurethane. Snookum2, by "dramatic color application", do you mean paint the mirror wall some dark rich color, like crimson red or something? Chickadee2, I am thinking of sconce too. The space is 31" wide, not sure if it will be too crowded. Annie, do you have a picture of art glass pendant you have in mind? Awm03, only $35 at your local store? I am amazed at the price difference! Boobadaboo, you have a pretty powder room now! Why the second towel ring? It seems we have a similar kind of PR, no window, towel bar at the same place. As for hideous PR, mine was just as bad. I had chrome faucet ,towel bar and toilet paper ring, but GOLD lighting fixture! What's worse? You are going to want to go with 3000K LED. The absolute best are the Sylvania Ultra HD Professional Series, really makes colors appear vibrant (95CRI), and the light has noticeably better color tint, but they are expensive. It is possible to find 3200K LED, but they are much harder to find (and options likely to be much more limited). 3200K would probably be the optimal color temperature for your situation, it's a vibrant bright white, but still warm enough to be within the range of feeling residential. I am going to tell you one thing though, and you can tell your wife I told you this: There is no LED product that feels exactly like the old-style GE Reveal bulbs. They do sell neodymium glass though, so maybe you could find some way of putting this filter over the LED bulbs. I have actually tried this, and surprisingly it does make the LED light feel a little more 'natural'. (and before anyone brings the subject up, yes, I am aware that the now discontinued old version of the Cree TW bulb used neodymium glass, but reviews said the light still did not feel like incandescent Reveal, despite the increase in CRI )

I replaced all the lighting in my house just a couple of years ago. (Bought a fixer and it needed a lot of electrical work). After a lot of research and testing of different brands, I determined that the CREE brand daylight (5000 k) light bulb was the best one for my home. It offered a high Color Rendering Index (over 90), had excellent ratings, their bulbs were very efficient (used less energy than some other brands), dimmed bulbs had little or no flicker, the price was fair and the color of the light worked for me. The things you need to know when picking a light are The base size - E-26 is a standard light bulb base aka a medium base, E-12 is a candelabra base. Recessed lighting can use a standard screw base, a pin base or a plug in base. Your base has to fit your fixture. Efficiency - how much energy is being used by the lightbulb. If your lights need to be dimmable you will want to research how much flicker they have - some LEDs are horrible when dimmed. Flicker is not listed on the package. You have to research and read reviews. Lumens - Brightness - most of the boxes will state that a bulb is a 40w replacement or a 60w replacement . . . LEDs use much less electricity than the incandescent bulbs did. It took 40 watts of electricity to light a 40 watt incandescent light bulb. It created 450 Lumens of light. The new LED 40w replacement bulb creates 450 Lumens of light using much less electricity. The CREE brand 40 w replacement uses only 6 watts of energy to create the 450 Lumens of light. CRI - Color Rendering Index - how well colors are seen - 90 is excellent, 80 good, anything with less than 80 cannot be Energy Star Rated or sold in California - not good Kelvins (Temperature or color). 2700 looks like the classic incandescent bulb, kind of yellow, 5000 k is natural daylight at noon, very white, sometimes referred to as blue, but at 5000 it should still be a very pure white. Many fixtures with built in light bulbs are made with 3500 k light. I think this was a compromise and it seems that every designer has jumped on board and is now recommending 3500-4000 k. Light bulb manufacturers usually offer 2700k and 5000k and something between the two. I like 5000 k, but I do a lot of work with color and like a lot of light and I have a lot of purple in my decor - yellow and purple make brown - I don't want my purples looking dirty and lower k values can make the purples look dirty. My sister kept the 2700 k temp in her home - decorated with a lot of greens and golds and orange reds - fall colors. She was used to the yellower incandescent light and liked the warmer color. NOTE: Just because 2 brands both call their bulb a 3000k soft white bulb, they will not be exactly the same color. Nothing is completely standard in LED bulbs at this point. I picked one brand so that all the lights will have the same color and I if I have one blow I will be able to replace it without worry that it won't match the rest.

The palm, snake plant & succulent would do well right up in the windowsill of a west window. The Chinese evergreen, peace lily & pothos would do best off to the side or about 5 ft away from window but in front of it. Ifeel your frustration- we have baseboard heating &there’s a heater beneath almost EVERY window. annoying. They’re SO drying! Why can’t they be placed in a dark corner of the room, where no one usually puts plants?? :0) I put pebble trays for extra humidity under all my tropicals. I suggested to someone questioning windowsill temps the other day to go buy one of those clingy aquarium thermometers that stick to glass but peel right off if you want to move it. That will tell you what your windowsill temps are. Most tropicals are good down to 45F, most succulents to 32F but that’s not absolute. I’d still research minimum temps for each species.
