Another question about grandma chairs-French Country or old lady?
Comments (34)I borrowed that pink chair from where I'd posted it in the Cottage thread in the Gallery. I've been having fun over there. I thought you'd get a kick out of it! It's cute as can be and twice as gutsy. Your room is shaping up just great. I love the cozy feel. Formal is lovely but can look un-touchable sometimes, you know? Everyone loves a good kick-back casual room, especially if it's pretty. Reno ~~ I really do like the shape of these chairs better than the other chair you asked about. These are more graceful. If they're comfy, I say go for it. You could re-cover them a kazillion ways so they should always find a place in some room or another. They will probably work just fine in there as they are. Just toss a red pillow on them and drape a throw over one. You can always re-do them later if you want. Go for it! Rhonda ~~ I love your chair! I've spent a lot of time all over your blog and you are SOOO talented. Your home is just gorgeous. It's the perfect combination of elegant and casual. It's a real art to put that together the way you have. You're an inspiration and I wish you'd post a lot more of your pictures here. I hope you didn't mind that I took the liberty of posting your Laundry Room pictures in the thread about that in the Gallery. I was hoping you would do it but you weren't around....See More2 CL chairs reupholstered. DONE! Pics
Comments (42)loribee, jan_in_wisconsin, arapaho..... THANK YOU! loribee, here's a pic of the whole room where the chairs are gonna live. :0) We plan on doing a fireplace remodel, stacked stone to the ceiling 22', lower the fireplace to the floor, take out the lower mantle, wire a spot above the fp for a flat screen tv. So this is what it looks like "now". I used to have floor pillows where the chairs are, so for me it's an improvement! I needed a conversatonal grouping. :0) The brown leather couch is also new. I used to have this room full of white leather & it just disappeared with the white walls & sunlight. :0)...See MoreAnother bedroom question - would this CL chair work?
Comments (24)Thank you all so much! I'm glad to know I didn't make a $25 mistake here. ;-) The legs on the chair aren't too attractive, actually. Plus, I know it's rather granny-ish, but I kinda like the skirt and think it does make it feel more cottagey, and that is a feel I want to have in this room. Cottagey southwest, if that's workable at all. I think I'm going to go take a look at that little CL footstool I posted in my other thread. It's only $35, so may be another worthwhile bargain. This area is starting to come together as I'd envisioned it, and I'm so pleased that it's doing so at very affordable prices!...See MoreReupholster boring sofa? 2nd edition
Comments (43)Many thanks, forum folks for more suggestions and cool photos!! I think I'm gravitating toward the sage green samples. But, as some have suggested I need to have more of a plan/vision for the room. If I change the sofa, I will have to do something with the blue damask wing chair. What I have done, which a few of you suggested, is change my lamp shades! Here is a picture. Also rearranged the decorations on the end tables. I found a coffee table(per forum suggestions) that appeals to me: http://www.drexelheritage.com/Furniture/Product-Detail.aspx?ItemID=433910 It's not as pricey as LaBarge or Baker⦠but I like it. Haven't had time to take down the valances, but I will! Local store suggested Paris Texas curtain hardware. Has anyone used this brand? I am toying with the idea of just switching up the decorative pillows to a few solids with pretty trim/fringe. That would break up the striped busy visual in the room....See Morerubyclaire
