I suggest that you should do a lighter stain in the bathrooms that will blend in with the doors and trim. That stain will be automatically adjust to the current look around it. You can say that its part of the design. Any of the option will do but I guess this is better. That's only my opinion. Thanks! Yes, SW = Sherwin Williams We used a stain on the beams named Early American, purchased at Home Depot/Lowe's. I'll have to ask DH the manufacturer. Be sure and take a sample of scrap wood(s) to find the colors you want. I took a 4 ft long piece the yard ripped for me to the store. We must have put on 8 stains before I found exactly what I was looking for. The veranda ceilings all have T&G spruce. I worked with the head painter to come up with a mix for that - used a 50/50 mix of stains so that it would be the same as the trim/beams. Used Dark Walnut on the oak flooring. I live in a 70+ year old Cape. This door had always been painted to match the trim. This year, I decided to strip it and stain it. Here are the results. Since all the trim in my house is painted an 'almost white', I wouldn't consider stripping the surrounding trim.

I'd have to agree with @Erica Reiner on this. Contrasting stains will look appealing for the first two days you have it, after that it's an eyesore. Especially if you have two different wood grains on it. A solid paint with wood grain might have been something to give a second thought to! I am hoping the lack of skirting is all the way around, making the job of re-doing the trim easier on you! You could consider painting it. Or simply sanding the trim down to expose the wood underneath. Since the doors are hollow-core, there isn't much to do except for dumping them! You could also, in worst-case scenario, consider going trim on trim. As an Interior Designer, I'd suggest re-doing the trim from the ground up.
