Here's an idea. 1- go to your hardware store (home depot). Ask the guys to design you a track system to hang from the ceiling out of small metal plumbing pipes. 2- Buy canvas painters drop cloths. They measure around 12'x 10'. They are quite heavy and would hang well for the height you need. You also would not need to sew them together and would hang between the bracket supports. 3- In the drapery dept. they have grommets. Which are large circles that you fasten on the top of the panel about every 8-10" across the panels. No need to sew. 4-Hang on the rod and you are done. Hope this helps. Bonnie

I found your chat in counter in front of window very helpful. But I cannot add to it. Can anyone help us about a kitchen design dilemma. We want to add a set of small washer dryer in the kitchen (about 10ft x 11ft). But it’s an old 1930 old apartment with two wall of low windows (three old Harvey window on one wall and two on adjacent). Right now all kitchen appliances/fridge are on the two walls without window in L shape arrangement. Would appreciate any advice on how to add the washer/dryer and perhaps more counter space to this design dilemma without losing natural light from the windows?

I am doing ceiling mounted track and floor to ceiling sheers and drapes with blackout. This is essentially a custom proposition. The rod is made of standard components, but the whole assembly is custom. However, I am not doing a valance so the top of the drape to the floor measurement has to be perfect (and this is some measurement like (Floor to ceiling measurement) - (hardware height measurement) also taking into account location of the hooks on the drapes. I am also doing double traverse rods with pulleys. I think you have to use traverse rods and carriers to hook the curtains on, with or without pulleys because nothing can go over the rod because the rod is attached to the ceiling. You can get Ripplefold Drapes with ceiling track included from The ShadeStore and they have measuring instructions. But if you are making a valance it may not be necessary to do ceiling mounted drapery hardware, you could do wall mounted hardware and hang the fixed valance only from the ceiling.

Wiggle room means you have a track TIGHT up at the ceiling line. Your fabric, minus pleats, minus buckram is not going to do what you want it to do. It just won't. I will bore you. Ninety nine of 100 professional sewers in a drapery workroom would have told you: Don't make velvet traverse. Pick a different fabric. That last one of the hundred? They might call you and say "this isn't working"! You hate the visible track. Unless you like a tomb? You will always see the track between panels. Paint the track WALL color. Get someone to shorten from the top to an exact length. Have them sew in pleats and insert the pin I do understand your complete frustration but you are attempting to bend unwilling materials and construction and hardware to your will. In thirty plus years of design? There is NO WAY I tackle a custom window treatment for a bay window, for any client, without my sewer, and my installer ,, my selected hardware, and the fabric selection......all present in front of that bay window. Before one single aspect ever makes an actual order. Success is staying in your lane. Yes, Even for Pros. Or the pro can go broke in a hurry: )
