Yes, very neutral! 😊 colorful toys are the bright spot. Agree black pillows not right. I’m looking for texture. Add pillows with lots of texture, include the colors you have (black, beige, white) but also a pop of some color in them. Look at kilm pillows for example. The mirror over fireplace is ok but bigger art with color might be better. Looks like mirror reflecting more fan windows across house so you have tons of natural light. Maybe instead of replacing mirror, Change out the mantle decor for vases with more color - take the framed items down, add colored vases to the ones you have. I’m assuming that bc of your little one, nothing goes on coffee table or TV console at least for a few years so you are limited to adding soft things with color & texture at people level & art to walls. . what about art for space between window to right of fireplace & sliding door?

Thank you! We just moved from a small condo to a house and we have no things/ I have no idea how to decorate. So some of it for child proofing and some of it is because I’m clueless. I definitely think we need more artwork. Any suggestions on a color to add? In general I Have a lot of trouble adding color.

Color & art is very personal. What colors do you have in other rooms? What colors do you wear? What colors in your kitchen dish ware? What was it that appealed to you about the 2 large abstracts on either side of TV? Think about that & go from there.. in my home, I have warm colors & lots of golds & reddish tones. The result is that I can move portable pieces from room to room & the colors flow.

You have a good start... you just need accessories. Think about some plants, leather, some metals (side table, etc) and definitely some Kilim pillows. You appear to prefer a neutral palette, but that doesn't mean it needs to be boring and flat.

The art is fabulous but feels too contemporary for this space. I would consider bringing in a darker basket to put kids toys in. Remove one of the white chairs (maybe use in a another room) and bring the other up onto the rug. OR sell them both and buy one nice leather chair with arms for the spot in the corner. Use a large floor plant for the space near the window.

Ikea has large plants quite reasonably priced.

This is just a few examples off Pinterest. Take pictures of your elements and put them together on the computer (I used Word and remove picture backgrounds) to create your own sense of what goes together and not. The first one probably has more traditional elements but looks at the shapes, colors, textures... I think you should get some accessories first and your rug should be fine.

Your house is beautiful!!! I’d just add some luggage color pillows. I think it’ll really add a lot and tons of flowers and plants. Think pink flowers. fake Boxwood planters ( they have tons of those in any home goods Marshall’s target tj maxx....) maybe also a lamp somewhere

agree that you just need to accessorize and maybe also bring in one or two floor lamps. as for accessories, start with some pillows. you seem to gravitate to neutrals, so maybe bring in textural pillows, perhaps faux fur?

Another thing to consider adding is some drapes or bamboo shades. We got these and layered with drapes and they add some nice texture/warmth. With your arched windows maybe just drapes OR blinds.

I was very happy with the quality of these, add the liner for privacy if needed. IKEA has beautiful reasonable drapes.
