Paint Design Dilemma

I am planning on painting my beadboard in my bathroom...

My walls are "perfect greige" by Sherwin Williams and my beadboard currently is stained....my doors are stained and my trim is "creamy white" can't recall the color. I am TIRED of the "stained" everything. I white washed my beams...and would like to change the beadboard color....Suggestions?

Love your whitewashed beams and wood ceiling. I would say the bead board should be the same white as your trim. Right now the bead board matches the ceiling but with the grey wall, wood ceiling and white washed beam, to add another color might be too much. If anything I might do a slightly darker shade of the wall color on the bead board. I know you said you don’t remember the color of the trim so you could just pick a shade of white that compliments the color on beams and paint trim and beadboard all the same. We just stayed at an Airbnb with painted bead board blended with stained. Also they stained some of it a dark green. See photos.

So maybe you could find a color to work without over doing it.

Agreed - creamy white to match the trim is your best bet.

As others have said it's hard to say without seeing pictures, but, one thing you said makes me wonder if the beadboard look will work. You mention that this is a corner. Does this mean you would only put beadboard on two walls? IMHO it needs to tie in to the surrounding areas. I don't think I've ever seen it used on just some of the walls in a space. I actually looked for this when I was remodeling my open plan basement. I really wanted to use beadboard but couldn't find a logical way to use it on some walls and not others.

determined.....the painting, or should I say painting difficulty, has alread crossed my mind. We're thinking about using the "packets". It's bundles of precut boards that you install using a special baseboard and special chair rail. If we decide to go this way I will paint the individual boards before putting up and then just do touch-up. Thanks for replying.

Using oil based primer means putting up with extra drying time and more odor. I am not a pro painter, but do painting as part of my business and learned from pros. What I do for interior wood is to use Zinsser BIN or Bullseye 123 primer---you can use water based BIN for your application. That will make much faster drying time and much less odor. Use a matte latex. But, an eggshell or semigloss will be easier to clean Tint the primer with the paint color, that helps coverage and color intensity. Red is the hardest color to get even color/coverage, IMHO. However, it will allow you to vary the coverage and get a distressed look---you will see this happen as the first coat of paint is applied and dries.

You might want to post this on the Home Decorating forum. I would probably pretend the beadboard isn't there and just paint it the same color as the wall above it. But I wonder what the beadboard is covering? Put up to provide insulation? New wiring behind it? Plaster walls bowing in or crumbling? You never know. When you do take it down, you could band your ceramic tile with black tile to fill the gap.
