Comments (11)Found this on ebay and thought some of you would like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280258533612&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr2_PcY_BID_IT&refitem=280256574810&itemcount=2&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%26itu%3DUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D2 I only have a few birds so I have no need for it, but if you're refilling a lot, I thought this looked awesome, for size and ease of washing (though communication with the vendor indicates parts may warp in a dishwasher) I'm not crazy about the feeders with bottle-type storage---I really like open access to all the noooks & crannies, so I'm settled on the Wild Birds Unlimited purple feeder. I had no idea Aspects Hummzinger came in purple! This is the answer to all of my problems for now...until I have larger numbers! Thanks all! Ann...See Moreupdate: mnf: butterflies and hummingbirds
Comments (84)Hi everyone, Just had to pop in and make sure our hostess knew I finally sent the box to Becky (ramazz) and I sent lots o' goodies along w/ the plants too :) Becky sent me a lovely box a few weeks ago absolutely full to the brim of plants and a GORGEOUS copperwired butterfly windchime.. I collect these so this was a lovely bonus! So thanks Becky :) Just wanted to sorta apologize too for not being too 'chatty' this RR, as some of you know my mom has cancer. Well she has been getting weaker and weaker the past few weeks so I find myself at her house daily doing whatever needs to be done or just holding her hand.. We found out on Tuesday that her liver is now 80% covered with cancer and she is literally a bright yellow color (like a jaundiced baby..) She is growing a new tumor in her belly (she just had 2 removed in March that weighed over 12lbs all together..) and the cancer is spreading to her interior stomach lining and up to her lungs.. We got her to a cancer center in Mexico this past week that does things a lil bit differently than they do here in the U.S. They focus more on herbal healing, and positive thinking. There's no guarantees of course, but since her oncologist basically wrote her off, this was her last hope. Please keep her in your prayers, her name is Janice. All this cancer started initially as cervical cancer.. so all you gals go get your yearly screenings.. this is NOT something to play around with! :( I'll probably be away more than here on GW for awhile, just wanted you all to know I appreciate your kind words and thoughts and I'll pop back in when I can. Hugs, Wendy / sassybutterfly_2008...See MoreWhere should I put my hummingbird feeder(s)?
Comments (0)How Many Feeders and Where Should I Put Them? Put out as many feeders as you are willing and, most importantly, are able to maintain. (It is even better if you also garden for hummingbirds.) Having more feeders/plants may help lessen the competition amongst hummingbirds, especially if the feeders are hung out of sight from one another (and the gardens are well-spaced). You may want to check this by thinking like a hummingbird... You may not be able to see both feeders from inside your house, but a highly territorial hummingbird will find the perch outside that overlooks both! Experiment with feeder locations; once a hummingbird has discovered that a feeder is a reliable source of food, it will remember exactly where that feeder is. Go ahead and hang a feeder right up close to your house or even on a window. (Just be aware of the potential for window collisions on unprotected, reflective glass and with screened porches and other large screened-in structures.) Hummingbirds are rather fearless, and don't mind being observed close at hand if you don't make any sudden moves. Note: The sugar solution in feeders in full sun may spoil more rapidly than that which is in shaded feeders. Feeder and Feeding Facts ALG and GARDEN WEB. Comments (4)I keep mine around ten ft apart ( one on each side of the arbor) and provided some resting places for the hummers too. They seem to like a “ lookout”. That seems to work for me. I do agree that they won’t really come with a other feeder on the same hook area...See Moreplantmomzone10asunset16
