rug help for in the new sitting area?
Comments (19)Oakleyok, thanks on the chair. I'm so excited for them to get here. (Tuesday!) Could be on the lamps and ambiance but we have the chandelier and the overheads and dimmers. We use the dimmed lights as nightlights all the time. I told hubby I could put a tree behind the angled couch but so far he's not a fan. We'll see what I can play with. I'll look and see if I can find some reddish ottomans that aren't too big. The library is one step down from the sitting area and the room is painted red so I do want to draw a bit more of the red up to the sitting room. Here's the floor that I hope is going in soon - whenever the darn moldings show up. It's EcoTimber Woven Strand bamboo....See Morehelp please with sitting area final choices
Comments (71)Those are also very pretty rugs. I particularly like the last one you linked. I was also thinking brown would be a good choice; though was not sure if hand-knotted was in your budget. One thing I found frustrating on Overstock is the colors are not accurately depicted with the online pics. If you read through the reviews you will notice how many people comment on that and it seems not many reviews for handknotted rugs. One piece of advice I had received is to rely more on the written description as far as colors and less on the pictures. Another thing that I noticed from another poster as well as with the rug that I purchased, is that the background is not uniform, but more blotchy with the "abrash" affect. If often gives a richer look, but again, may be a surprise as does not show up well in online pics. Is that the right size as they seemed a tad small. It would be helpful to mark that out on your floor along with the different ottoman sizes. One thing I was wondering is if you have the space for the ottoman. Do you plan to use the recliner feature with the Chloe chairs? If so, you will need open floor space for that....See Morewill this rug work in the new sitting area?
Comments (28)Thank you everyone for all the support! I feel much better about it all this morning. I think change is a big one. I don't do change well or easily and the last six months has been nothing but change. Even when it is good change I have a hard time with it. Last night I looked through the gallery at a bunch of rooms that had similar layouots, rug/chairs same color, and it helped me feel better. I think I had contrast on the brain but I really don't think I need that there because the dining room has a ton of contrast and pop and so do the library. This will be a nice place for the eye to rest. Before I went to bed last night I rolled it out and really, really do love the rug. Alison, I noticed that the chenille/hemp was a much softer feel too. Wish I could find a runner like this because I still need one of those between the columns (for the dog) I'd really like to find a rug that would just melt into the floor and not call attention to itself since there will be this rug on one side and the dining room rug on the other. Thank you again, everyone, for your support. Today I will get hubby to help me move furniture so we can put down the pad and the rug. I'm back to being excited again....See MoreHelp with area rug in living roome
Comments (14)If we go with the rug, curtains are next. What color? I have already brought home a light stone which my daughter said was not enough contrast to the sofa. Khaki didn’t look great behind the couch. Off white was very plain. I am avoiding gold after living and decorating through the 70’s and 80’s and early 90’s. The walls are a very light tan - Valspar Desert Fortress. And not being repainted. This is why I don’t make major changes very often. Yes, my house and furniture are not a cookie cutter look....See MoreRelated Professionals
