Refrigerator Counter Depth Side by Side - Whirlpool or GE Profile
Comments (3)I have GE Profile Arctica and it has cooling problems; if i see temps in the 30's I'm lucky, range all the way up to 49 deg. Working with service in hopes of correcting. No water or ice problems though. The first service guy recommends KA and Whirlpool b/c they supposedly have less gadgets, operating system stuff then many of the others and so less to break down. His .02, not mine....See MoreRecommendation: Side by side Counter depth SS Fridge
Comments (9)The Ikea Datid or Nutid S23 are worth checking out - basically the same thing as the Whirlpool WRS965CIAM with different handles and missing the beverage rack (which can be ordered from the parts department if you must have it), but with an excellent 5-year warranty, and often a lower price. Similar refrigerators are also sold under the Kenmore, KitchenAid, and Jenn-Air brands, the latter two which Whirlpool owns. There are two heights available, the taller ones are about 72"h, almost 3" higher than the shorter ones for a bit of extra space inside if you have the height available. The Ikea is short only, Jenn-Air tall only, and the Whirlpool and Kitchenaid available both ways. These are new designs, with sleek LED lighting, wide glass shelves, and icemakers that don't take up any room in the main freezer compartment. There are minor feature differences between the different brands, but they're all the same basic design, and a vast improvement over the outmoded refrigerators Whirlpool was making until last year. The Electrolux Icon (and less-expensive Electrolux, Kenmore, and Frigidaire offshoots) are also worth a look, as are Samsung and LG....See MoreIs there a counter-depth, side-by-side without a door icemaker?
Comments (7)As someone else looking for a new frig, if you've had serious back problems (and back surgery), bending over to pull out a freezer drawer is definitely NOT easier than opening the freezer door of a SxS frig while standing up. I love the convenience of the refrigerator section being in the top of a FD frig...but those pull out drawers are the deal killer for me. Reaching down to get ice out of one would be excruciatingly painful. The perfect frig for someone like me who has back problems (are you listening manufacturers?) is a large frig section on top, small middle drawer containing the ice maker and ice cubes, and a bottom freezer drawer that I can open with my FOOT. (so I don't have to bend over and pull it open.) Happy Thanksgiving!...See MoreURGENT!!Need help with Kitchen Appliance selections!
Comments (5)Our kitchen has been finished about a month. We bought all KA appliances. We have the french-door 36 inch. I love the freezer on the bottom. I have the counter-depth, which is not as deep as the regular but it is very nice. I did not choose the ice and water on the outside because it gives more room inside without it, also, because I have hardwood floors and I did not want anymore water on the floor than necessary. It has a water dispenser on the inside which is very nice. I really do not miss it on the outside as I would rather have the space inside the frig. I really like the range, but the grates are very heavy and I feel like I am always cleaning it.I cooks very good. I love my dishwasher, it is very quite and the dishes come out sparkling. The micro-wave is above the range, it is good also. I hope these appliances continue to give me good service and appearance....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
