I don't think you can go wrong with either color. Simply White is one of my favorite whites. I say go for it.

i know gray is the “other” neutral, and classic gray is pretty. I just don’t looooove gray or Greige. I’m always pulled to blues and greens, but those seem too bold for an all over house color.

The right blue or green all over can act as a neutral, believe it or not. So, since you don’t looooove gray, but, presumably, you do looooove blues and greens, try some out!

I also think you can do it.

Maybe test Benjamin Moore's Ballet White and Swiss Coffee. I like BM's Natura. Line.

Plus... you are really not trapped between white and gray/greige. As another option, beige is officially back.

I like BM's Bleeker Beige.

Bleeker Beige is one of my faves, but of course there are tons of beige type colors to choose from.

I found this post by Maria Killam to be quite informative. Basically it says that what you can achieve with white paint is very different from all of those professionally staged gorgeous photographs.

What's the color on your stairs? It's light but pleasant and goes *very* well with the wood.

White, any white has an undertone. Probably the one with the least (high LVR) is Chantilly Lace.

So, the issue is undertone, important because of all the natural light coming into the house. One white will not look the same in every room.

Simply White is creamy, yellow undertone. West light could exacerbate it.

If I were to paint an entire house one color, with Simply White for trim, I think I would choose Collingwood for walls. It is in the OC collection but it can go warm or cool in a room, which is what you need as the sun moves around the house.

Lesson learned in doing what you like and not what other people think will look better.

IMO if you want neurtal look at nature a grayed/ green is areal neutral but i think once you hang art and add your furniutre the white will be great and you will see the contrast with the trim in semiglass and the walls matte.

Simply White is great but you need to test it. We've used BM Swiss Coffee both inside and out. It's a lovely soft white on the interior, and a much brighter white on the exterior.

A near neutral colour is one that possesses little inherent colour of its own.

It is low in Chroma.

I used BM classic grey in my living room and kitchen. Living room faces east and classic grey looks almost white with a tiny tinge of cream/grey. However, in the kitchen, it has a green undertone so you may need to check out different lighting in your house. You may also want to check out studio McGee. Their newly built home’s interior is painted in BM Swiss Coffee at 50% or 75%. It looks amazing.

I honestly love the color in your stairwell and don't think you should change a thing. Ha, I'm no help at all.

Are there any home builders near you? You may find model homes in white. I have done all white (Cloud White) as a backdrop to art. Personally it’s a clean, modern look to me yet not stark.

I went through the same issues as you! We have a lot of tall walls and in the end felt that white would be too builder-grade looking and generic. After experimenting with a lot of colors we chose classic gray and I love it! I would do that color in any future house and I recommend it to my friends. I describe it as a vanilla gray, sometimes it looks white, sometimes it looks off white, sometimes it looks gray. Very versatile. Here are some pics of my house so you can see.

You need to prime the walls with white primer in any event. Once the white primer is up, you can see if you like white walls everywhere.

A friend painted all the walls in her first floor pale green. She still loves it after 20 years.

If you are drawn to blues and greens, that tells you something. There are shades that are very pale, with just a hint of color. Personally, I'd go for color and probably green, which can work with so many other colors. But that's me - I find white walls incredibly boring. To me, white walls just say "Afraid of color." I've never lived with white walls my entire life until now and it drives me crazy that I can't paint any colors in my current apartment.

A neutral white try SW Frosty White.

Since you like shades of blue and green, maybe try a very light aqua color. I am not a fan of all white either. I did that about 40 yrs ago, and it lasted less than two weeks, and I changed it all to color.
