Clopay Avante, Martin Athena or Bryce Parker modern garage door?
Comments (7)@Forest Lake. My garage faces dead east. Its bright in the morning and at certain times of the year the sun hits directly on the glass. Personally I find no excessive heat or cold with the doors. The most important thing I have found is that in SoCal, I save alot on electricity bc I don't have to turn in the lights. :-)...See MoreContemporary Garage Door on a Budget
Comments (26)It’s been a while but I’ll add to this thread. We got a 18’x 8’ Wayne Dalton 8800 with frosted glass installed in May 2017, near Portland OR. We paid $5500 for the door installed. It collects water and has significant condensation in the winter; when you open it, you have to wait for it to stop dripping before you walk under it. Of course it’s cool and wet in our climate, but it’s pretty annoying, especially when you just had your car washed. That said, I won’t give it up because I love how it looks and I love the light it lets in! Just sharing a data point. :o)...See MoreModern, Contemporary Door Hardware Color
Comments (9)all of it is hogwash. depends on a house, doors and their styles, and yes, interior transition I don't prefer stainless steel or chrome but if that was in tune with how I see my place and what it is, I'd go for it. Polished brass is not my favorite either yet if it don't bother me in a space I'd never change it too. I'd say also that the shape of the hardware can be more hinting on a house's style, than the hardware color I personally chose ORB for our remodel..the house is distinctively traditional, with some retro elements mixed in decor My friend who has a more or less traditional house yet is driven to modern, and more restricted plallette, is currently remodeling to her tastes. pretty well I'd say,, and her choice of hardware is matte black. I knew what was/will be going on in my place, as a general picture, so I went with levers in ORB. White interior doors. she knows het place-she preferred simpler levers in matte black. Her doors are white too yet detailing is different and more streamlined. US(or so we are told) seems to think something else every several years, then everybody does it regardless, then this things is thrown off the pedestal, condemned as dated, and new contemporary upscale thing is proclaimed. That's all pretty normal I guess, except for the part "then everybody does it regardless". Choose whatever your choose with regard to your specific house, then it wouldn't matter what's in style right this very moment and what's not. Since then it'll look relevant whatever trends are or will be. cmarlin is right by saying also doors don't have to be white either..so the question is also whether you pick doors too now, building, remodeling for yourself with some existing element in place already, or update existing doors to sell soon....See Moreadvice on modern garage doors
Comments (9)What a find! You have a great approach to making this design work for you. While it isn't the most traditional approach to garages, making the prominent structure most appealing is uniquely thoughtful design! You can absolutely do a stained wood/wood look garage door; it would really compliment the style of your home. The recommendation would be to go with a light - mid-tone stain to provide contrast against the dark brick as well as add warmth for a more inviting palette: Another option to consider in "artifying" your garage and making the design elements really pop would be choosing a finish with a high reflectance value. A copper garage door or one with significant glazing would make a statement: Best of luck with your project!...See MoreDenita
