Stressful but now good! The movers didn't show up at their house until 6:30 pm, got here at 8:30 pm, it took to midnight to put beds and crib together, the whole time the little one's were wide awake! Me? I went to bed at 11:00. :) One of the motto's of the moving people says "We are on time. Always." Riiight. DH got up at 6, then the grands woke up (he never thought about the 2 yr. old having a fully loaded diaper, LOL), and bless his heart he started cooking breakfast for everyone. DS is now up, DIL is sleeping. I think everyone may take a long nap today. So far lots of laughter and cursing about the moving guys being 10 hours late! All eleven living things are accounted for! I do worry about the grands not quite grasping why they won't be going back to their house anymore.

We made it home Wednesday evening. The truck is still packed to the gills as it has been pouring rain and this morning i fought snow flakes the size of fifty cent pieces. I don't want to risk her furniture getting water marks on it so we slowed down to wait out the storm. We are going through boxes that made it here via cars. The truck is parked at DD's house as it is too large for my driveway. The weather is supposed to clear by tomorrow so I have reserved a 10' truck to make smaller loads to my house/storage. MIL's car broke down on the way here. The altinator went out and all oh her DH's paintings were in the trunk and we had to transfer them on the side of the freeway at night. I'm getting ready to drive to Sacramento to pick it up this afternoon. My SIL gave me the worse cold I have had in years. Head and chest cold. Ugh. I'm tired. The good news? MIL told me she didn't miss her house at all this morning. There is so much stuff coming and that scares me. Lol.

I think I like the yellow cabinet centered on the wall, and no shelves. that has a nice, open look. that yellow cabinet will be really nice. amazing... a left-handed family! :) did you choose a sink size yet? how are you feeling about the rest of the layout? maybe you'll have to have a kitchen rule that dirty dishes can only go on top of the dishwasher or in the sink... not in any prep area! lascatx pointed out (in the other thread) that then you have two potential prep areas on either side of the range. my kitchen has two prep "spaces" so hopefully dh and i won't be in each other's way. i am going to attempt to have dirty dishes only "allowed" over the dishwasher, too. good in theory, at least! ;) i hope you're feeling good about the layout now.

emagineer... We have checked the restore and the cabinets they had were even worse than mine! They were absolutely horrible and ugly. Nothing new in that store, everything was used. Its about 45 minutes away, so not something we can frequent often. We had actually originally stopped in because we are trying to put a corner shower into our master bath (there used to be one but the po took it out and put in a huge hutch). They had one but it was 4 inches too big. I could probably go once a month though. Ill have to look in Feb. Electrical is going to have to be upgraded.. it drives me crazy when I cook. Thanksgiving day, dh just stayed downstairs so I could yell at him to fix the breaker again lol. And with 4 children... I could use a dishwasher!! I had thought of painting the cabinets white.. the big hutch is very close to me taking a sledge hammer to it. Whats interesting is the old stove plug in sits there. I can see why they moved it... since it would have put the fridge right next to teh stove. I would also like to put my new fridge over there again.. and I do believe that would make it fit though Id have to check height (just leaves water line to redo lol). Nope no Ikea close by :( But I have seen an island somewhere around here like that. I do have white curtains up now, but they arent doing anything for me. Hmm.. silver accents.. didnt think of that. And I can find ads online and print those off and frame those. The old walls are yellow... one of the many many paint colours in there (currently there is white that is peelign off, with the yellow under it, then theres the inside of the cabinets in an ugly olive green, and behind the old fridge is another green. I just dont love being in my kitchen, and seeing as I spend a lot of time in there, I would like to love it!! I could easily paint the walls yellow... but would that be too much? Ive gotta paint soon. And then of course look for new hardware for the cabinets.. and I do love a lot of the ideas!
