What's your mantra or slogan?? Share your words of wisdom.
Comments (77)I copied and pasted my response from another mantra/motto post. I have since bought a Nike Just Do It tee shirt that I wear on clean up days to keep me on track. This is strange but I have found something that has made me more productive and happier. With Nike staring at me from every closet and garage shelf, their "Just Do It" slogan hit me. I have a bad habit of letting things slide; simple projects/tasks that are staring me in the face, things that make me think of them in the middle of the night, or reach out to me as I pass. This constant nagging brings me down but I still don't tackle them. Examples: For 3 weeks the empty bird feeders kept saying "fill me" every time I looked out the window; clean out the refrigerator vegetable bin; or dust the guest room. I have changed my 'I'll do it later' mentality to a "Just Do It" mantra. For a month I have followed this tactic and it is paying off. I "Just Do It" and I am happier that I have completed the task and my mind is no longer nagging me with a multitude of little but annoying unfinished tasks; kind of like defragging your computer. Granted, there are still major organizing and cleaning projects that need to be done but I am clearing out the little naggers daily. I know we all have to find our own motivator to keep the Procrastination Monster at bay. Thanks for letting me share mine....See MorePainting Woes, new mantra "If I burn it down..."
Comments (10)I ran to Sherwin Williams again last night - hey, what's one 45-mile - one-way - trip to town a couple times a day? I have nothing better to do. I had them "color match" the old Key Lime Pie paint. They said the quart size sample will not have the same satin sheen as when mixed in the Emerald base, but it will give me a place to start. I have the SW's Garden Sage, and the SW color-match to the Key Lie Pie. I'll put a couple samples on a couple of walls and decide then. On a happier note - the new front door arrived today! It's more gorgeous than I was hoping for! The inside color is darker than I had thought, but richer looking. There's not as much contrast from the front face to the inside face, but I think it's going to be just fine. It's a steel door, stained and textured to resemble oak. I love the stained, textured, faceted, and bits-of-red glass. I can't find a good on-line photo. It's by a Wisconsin company, Waudena, and the style is Inglenook. In the photo I tried to attach, it's the door style with the smaller rectangular glass at the top - similar to the one on the lower right side, but darker "wood." I'll try samples of the two paints next to the door and see which works best....See MoreRigid Core SPC kitchen floor install & cabinets--cabinets 1st. Right?
Comments (3)Cabinets are permanently installed built in obstacles. All floating floors should go around built ins, with an expansion gap, not under them. Only permanently fastened floors like wood or tile go under cabinets. The cabinets themselves need to be shimmed to the finished floor height, as that finished floor is the basis of all room measurements....See MoreMANTRA OMNI CABINETS
