My first question is What is your favorite color? You have excellent neutrals that could work with any color. If you love the cool gray green of Farrow and Ball's french gray I say go for that color. That is a color that can compliment many different colors from the gold warm tan drapes to a fire hot red chair or a deep green alligator. Go with what you like and you will be amazed that it works. If you think the Farrow and Ball French Gray is a little too green based you might consider another FB paint called Light also by FB French Gray FB Light by Farrow and Ball I like mixing cool and warm in different venues for drama. Obviously not all the colors but keeping it simple to two basic hues and working with them is ideal. You have one small wall behind your china cabinet that you could paint in a gold tan to match the drapes but the rest of the walls the Blue gray Farrow and ball you are thinking of would be perfect. Sorry haven't been to the home deco site as much. No I haven't painted yet and it will be a while : ( We are still working with the insurance & GC on our kitchen/basement flood! I am down to sub floor in my kitchen and every think I once had in my lower cabinets are boxed in the living room, along with my kitchen table and pantry food AAHHHHH! At least I know that my bottom cabinets will be replaced but WE have to pay for the tops to match. AND the old ugly stipple on the ceiling doesn't go behind the top valance so it will need something done. So far to scrape it off and put spantex it will cost $1000 just for kitchen and of course the ceiling runs in with the living room and hallway! So my grand total estimate is $2700 for the ceiling only. I still have to put in approx $3000 for my upper cabinets and THEN there is the counter tops. Whew...........thanks for listening to my vent : ( I can't wait until I'm just concerned about painting my living room LOL.

Lovely impressionistic painting, and I think it would look great over your couch! Don't worry about leather vs. impressionist style.....it's what you like that matters. It will look fine!

I think the colors currently on the walls work fine. I might suggest however that you remove all the small understated wall and sparsely spaced pieces replacing larger more intentional ones for impact. If you opt to keep the art and pictures on the walls they need to come down to eye level height. Rather than painting entire walls you could paint the transitional walls like a bridge (the one by the stairs and the one by the front door). You could go with a latte, coral, grey, or gold.
