How to fertilize over winter

Hi all,
Prepping for my first winter with a potted Meyer lemon and Ruby Red and wondering about fertilizer. In Phoenix we tend to get daytime highs in the 60s-70s and overnight lows in the 30s-40s. Rarely do we hit freezing and when we do it's generally only for a few hours. I'm planning on keeping my trees outdoors, with some protection on cold nights if necessary.
I'm currently only fertilizing with Foliage Pro (3-1-2 liquid fertilizer) because I learned the granular stuff I had been using was junk. Trees are happy with this regimen.
I know we generally reduce/stop fertilizing in the winter as citrus slow their activity, but I'm afraid if I stop I'm going to get the feared leaf yellowing and drop. It's still hot in Phoenix and my trees are growing, but I don't want to encourage growth that will be tender when the temps eventually drop. Do you recommend stopping the fertilizer and if so, when? If I notice yellowing should I resume feeding or just stay the course until spring?
