I'm not sure the product used for their sample makes any difference to anything.

Did you ask them to match BM's Intense White for your cabinets?

Looks to me that they didn't match the color. End of discussion .....resubmit sample THAT MATCHES

There are a couple of possibilities

• It's possible that someone picked the closest white they could find
• It's possible that the person that picked or matched the color is color blind (30% of the male population is color blind in some form so it's always possible)

I'd like to suggest that you reach out to Benjamin Moore directly on their 800 # and get an answer if the Conversion Varnish product they sell can be color matched.?

I agree this is not a match and BM should be able to answer the question. Yes conversion varnish can look a bit different because the cabinet is not the same material as the wall. IMO you are trying to mix too many different whites why not think about an actual color for the walls instead of a white it does not need to be a huge contrast but maybe a gray to still be modern but a contrast. IMO the same paint on a different surface will look different and not much to do about that.BTW why mixing those 2 colors of cabinets IMO not enough contrast so they will also look like you tried and missed.

If you want to match, you take a finished cabinet door and have the wall paint matched to it. With completely different chemistry makeups, you’re trying to demand that artist’s tempera paint match automotive paint. It never will, and was not designed to ever match. Conversion varnish has a completely different base and uses completely different tints than does house paint.

Color matching always has the paint spectrometer matched to the object. You take the cabinet door to the paint store, after the cabinets are coated. Even then, texture and different chemistry will have it be slightly different. Wall paint matching fabric or leather will never be a perfect match. Texture plays a big part in color perception as well. A satin finish in “the same” color as a gloss finish will always look like a different color shade. Give up on 100%. Get to 95% by custom matching the paint to the cabinet.

Well, the problem is that we want the cabinets match the color on the wall, because that's the color we like. But your reply is really helpful to understand the challenges of matching these types of paint match. (P.S. to clarify, the cabinets are in the kitchen, against a white wall, the wall shown in the picture is the bedroom wall, of the desired color).

No advice but wanted to say we have BM Moonshine on our walls in the DR and kitchen and we love it.

Sorry, I was obviously not clear AT ALL on my initial post :( The walls in the kitchen are white (chantilly lace). The walls in the bedrooms are Intense White. The cabinets in the kitchen were supposed to be Intense White as well, as long as that was looking similar to the color of the bedroom walls, but it turned out way too light, when compared to the bedroom wall (see picture). The other color we considered (moonshine) turned out to be slightly darker than desired. We are going to try and lighten up the moonshine by 25%, since it is pretty close, and then decide between that and the regular moonshine.
