kitchen ceiling paint choice
Comments (1)Not only will the satin ceiling be too much sheen, I suggest three different colors. One for each level. Dead Flat White is best if you don't prefer a color. Michael...See MoreOpening kitchen ceiling, which sheen to use?
Comments (3)I wanted a very durable paint finish on my ceiling in the dining room and kitchen. Mostly because we have a wood stove in the area and the ceilings need to be cleaned often. I went with a one part epoxy paint (water based) from SW. Went on very easy with a nice semi-matte finish. Much richer looking than flat paint, but not shiny like semi-gloss. A week after painting the ceiling I did the walls, and got some paint on the ceiling I didn't notice for a bit. Next day when I saw it, I was able to scrub it off the ceiling with no damage to the ceiling paint. Bad part is if you ever want to repaint, the ceiling needs to be sanded first. And you need to put on successive coats in a day or two before it cures much....See Moreflat paint or slight sheen?
Comments (25)Flat for me. I agree that it has a certain unpleasant feel, but what's with all the need to stroke the wall? Kidding, people. :) I can still hear my mom telling me to take my hands off the wall. I have flat everywhere in my house except for eggshell in the bathrooms. I grant you, it has a slightly better feel to it, but then it sets off memories of my mom nagging at me....See MoreLow-sheen paint in kitchen?
Comments (2)Grease and grime depends on your cooking and whether or not it's vented outdoors. I would recommend BM Aura Bath & Spa Matte finish for the kitchen. It stands up to repeated washings if needed. A stain sheen will indeed show every piece of lint, dust and imperfection when washed with light. Here's a tip. Since the walls require two coats to maximize color and durability, apply the first coat in Satin sheen. If you're not happy how it appears in critical lighting, make the second (the finish coat) Matte....See Morebreezygirl
