Looking for Window Coverings for Large Windows

My son is finishing a rehab and we are trying to decide what type of window treatments to get for these windows which are 64" long (just the bottom row). There is a fireplace to the left so we don't want any drapery hanging there. We were thinking of cellular shades but they will hang down 5" from the top which might not look good. He's also hoping not to spend too much since he is doing the entire house over.

He'll need an 84" length, or, if unavailable, a 90" length of drapery, which may require hemming, to "skim" the floor. A one way draw would not work, as he lacks sufficient wall space on either side of the windows to stack the drapes. However, he ,may be able to locate a custom rod which would cover windows on both walls, yet open to the right.

The least expensive option may be through Ikea, who offers some better window coverings for significantly less money. Given his fabulous view, he may want something lighter weight, admitting light, while still giving some privacy at night.

Hey There: the best way to update your rooms is with battery operating remote controlled roller shades. Will outlets in the baseboard under large window look better?

We will use the outlets to plug in laptops when working at the dining table. Our dining room will also function as a home office and homework spot. I work from home a lot and plan to work in the dining room. The main issue is aesthetics... and cost. Does it look better if they are in the baseboard? There is room in the drywall but just barely.. Also, is it really that hard to cut a square out of the baseboard? It will be fingerjointed pine. These are the only two outlets that I want to put in the baseboards in the whole house. How much "extra" should this cost? Is it common to put outlets in the baseboards?

You need to be more specific about the kind of windows you want rather than ask about brands. Andersen makes pvc clad wood, aluminum clad wood, all composite, and all-aluminum monumental windows. What do you consider a modern style window?

IMO solar shades to control the light and heat they give privacy during the day and allow you to keep the view and drapes at night for privacy . As for your dilemma now no one expects all the windows in a house to look exactly the same outside you are worrying over nothing IMO
