what kind of bug is this?

Hi:

This is a ~1 year old DIY self-watering container in the shade. The soil remains moist most of the time. I pulled back the mulch to inspect the plants, and saw these ~1 inch long, skinny, off-white caterpillar-looking things that immediately rolled up. I wasn't fast enough to snap a picture of them while they were moving - I can try again tomorrow if needed. Any clue what these are?

A but late here, but those could also be blurry millipedes.

It sure is shaped like a harvestman, the "legs" in front appear to be shaped like pedipalps, and if a harvestman it has lost 2 of its legs, which is not uncommon.

Looks like a cut worm which is actually a type of caterpillar. They feed at night so you can go out and pick them off or use BT spray which is a bacterial spray that targets caterpillars and is organic gardening approved. These guys tend to chew plants right at the base so you may see young plants just falling over.

Since this was bumped, I'm gonna say heck yeah those are millipedes. Look in the upper right--you can see the back end of one in motion. It's a lot of legs.
