prune Russian Olive tree now, or wait until early spring?

We need to have a Russian Olive tree drastically pruned. Is it ok to do that now (Westminster, CO), or should we wait until early spring when new growth is starting? I know Russian Olive is considered a noxious weed by some, but it does provide some privacy in our yard as well as bird and squirrel habitat, so would like to keep it looking better.
