Are these a bad idea? Have better ones??? (Lots of pics)
Comments (12)timber I saw that! That's what sort of got me going - then I saw this pic on the Schoolhouse site. One of the kitchens in the Willow entry are the same backless stools in gray, in Martha's kitchen. :-) I LOVE the Giannetti design ones - but I think they might be too much, plus they're WAY out of the budget. Those lyon stools with backs are only $70 each!!!! Palimpsest, maybe you're just telling me what I want to hear, but thank you for your input. :-) I really value your opinion on here. (not that I don't value others, of course!) Aww timber thanks for asking about kitty. This is the first really warm day we've had, so she and I are sunning on the deck, which she loves. :-) She isn't looking too hot (has a cancerous bone tumor growing on her jaw, poor baby) but she seems pain free and happy. she scared me earlier in the week when we got some blood, but it seems to have stopped. I think it's b/c her upper teeth were poking her lower gum, which is pretty deformed now. So sad. Yes!! The sink got installed, everything turned out OK. DH is at the house now, likes the island as is (I assume you saw that post) so it's staying. Whew, one less thing to worry about. :-) I am still waiting for him to send me pics. *tap* *tap* *tap* I should have just posted this pic to begin with - GC still has to do filler piece between sink and cabinet doors. (among other things LOL.)...See MoreChanging painted wood baseboards and trim that have been distressed...
Comments (7)I think the doors you have pictured are very attractive. If all the trim is done the same way you may be better off replacing it though as the labor and cost of restoration may not be worth the effort. The antiquing job that was done seems to have held up well so it most likely has several coats of poly on it. If you like the cabinet doors those could be redone in a darker, richer antique finish which could look beautiful next to lovely new cream molding....See MorePaint color with a LOT of stained wood trim
Comments (20)I lived in an apartment with similar wood trim and was deciding between BM stonington gray and BM revere pewter, which another poster suggested. (I also tried abalone). I painted swatches on several walls with different light saturations and watched them over the course of a day. I ended up choosing BM revere pewter and loved it until we moved out. I think it's really helpful to observe your actual light in your home with these gray colors as they can have purple, blue and even green tones depending on the time of day and light....See MoreHow to update dark wood trim without paint
Comments (67)Your window panes appear to have divided lights. I'm not sure if you are thinking of hiring a painter, or doing the painting. Either way, the painter is going to charge to do all those divided lights, or you are going to be doing painstaking work yourself. White is very fashionable now, but once you paint woodwork white, it will never go back to being stained wood. To prep, you need to sand lightly every single surface, then primer to keep the color from bleeding, and then you will need to fill every little hole and crevice that you didn't know were there until you put white on it, and how they look bad. Then you can apply the paint. So, I'm thinking that the white has been around for about 20-25 years now. Fashion will be swinging back to the darker colors again, as it has already shown up in cabinetry. The woodwork will have to be replaced if you change your mind and want stained wood in a few years. I agree with the comments about using lighter colors in your furnishing and even artwork on the walls....See Moredecoenthusiaste
