I have had the Whirlpool Duet HT 9400 model now for a little over 2 years. I just love my washer and dryer so much and have to thank this site that helped me to figure out what would be best to buy for my situation. I always dry the washer's door when I am not going to doing any more washes that day. I always leave the washer door open slightly to air it out as well as leave the laundry room door open to air it out since my laundry room has no window in it. I learned this from this site 2 years ago. I never cleaned out my washer with bleach and didn't realize I should. should I still if I have no problems? So far, I never had one problem with my very quiet washer and dryer that gets my clothes cleaned and is pretty also. I love being able to fold clothes on the top of them. I did not buy the pedestals since I am not quite 5 feet. I just put a lot of shelves in the laundry room for storage.

Do you need privacy during the day or just at night when the lights are on? I don't like the idea of people watching what I'm doing at night, so I do have blinds or shades or drapes on most of my windows. Not ashamed of anything, just like my privacy. Depending on the room, you could use woven wood blinds, but they'd need a privacy liner to work at night. Or wooden blinds. Or shears, but they don't do much at night when the lights are on. I've also showcased some spectacular molding by using tension rods within the window casing and hanging rod pocket curtains on that. Just hem the curtain so that it just clears the window sill. I think there's also a window film that lets you see out, but prevents others from looking in. Something I saw recently that might work--fabric shutters. The decorator used two sets of crane rods per window, top and bottom. Then they hemmed lengths of drapery fabric top and bottom and stretched them between the rods, so that they had two pieces of taut fabric, one on each side of the window. Because the rods have a hinge, you can mount them in the window casing. Close them, you have privacy. Open them like shutters, you have daylight and a view. Steam is not likely to be effective. You would need to heat the contaminated material to high temperature all the way through for an extended period. I don't know how you would do that to this structure. Note that I have no idea what "twin Ts" are.) The bleach will penetrate to a limited degree as well, but my guess it that it will work better than trying to steam it. I am still struggling with your description. Is there any way to post some pictures or do you have any links to similar structures? I am afraid that your best bet might be to just concentrate on humidity control to keep it in check after you make sure there is no water infiltration. Keep in mind that humid air that might be sucked in due to pressure differentials created by the HVAC can cause condensation wherever the hot, moist air first hits a cold surface. A few words on bleach. The concentration of hypochlorite is all over the place for some time now. It used to be a standard 6% by some convention. If you want to use the 5 or 10% figure, you need 6% hypochlorite in the bottle. The flavored varieties, as I like to call them, have a lower concentration so the added scents are not oxidized (degraded) by the bleach. Some shysters even market stuff as "ultra" that have lower concentrations than 6%. It is all a consumer rip-off. If you are in the store and forgot the 6% figure, check a bottle in the store that says "disinfectant bleach" on the label or has an EPA registration and buy the stuff that has the same or higher concentration that is least costly.

Thought you might want an update ;) So we purchased these items back in February. We recently discovred that we were given two different black crown moldings with look very very similar but were actually just a tad bit off in measurement and in the design profile. Also, we ordered regular toe kick but they put down to give us a really expensive decorative wood bottom that we really didn't want because it didn't fit under our cabinets. Soo...I called them up and told them what happened. We went down there today and met with the manager. He is refunding our money! AND ordering us all new crown and kick plates in the hickory color! AND we get the refunded difference for the kickplates, which means all new free crown AND a $140.00 giftcard! How lucky am I?
