How Do I Remodele and Renovate My Old Rooms

Hi,I am in the process of renovating and remodeling my house however there is a critical hurdle that has been bothering me. My house was made in the 1990s when the arch was all in range and my living room and dining room are connected with an large arch. There is also another arch in the dining room leading to other rooms. I want to appropriately expand my sitting area and want to create a modern look for my living room. The biggest hurdles in this the large cabinet that is in the living room which i want to either remove or remodel. I am also moving my dining table and chairs in another room to create more room however i still can't seem to find a good option for my expanding. I have drawn a rough sketch for my area which includes rough measurements and not entirely the full picture since the app required payment I would rather use on renovating. Hey all, sorry I have written a post every year on this and I just haven't gotten it to my liking yet and appreciate everyone's suggestions. I switched my setup from the original picture and now can be more specific on the advice I need. Based on the picture below, when you enter the home the foyer wall is huge and the lighting sconces are spaced out a lot (I am not moving the sconces). The wall is 134" long and the distance between the sconces are about 118" long. I was going to put an entryway table on the wall, but the one I like is only 48" wide. Others that are closer to 60" wide are out of my price range. I am going to put a few circular mirrors above the console table. Can anyone recommend how I can set up that wall so that it doesn't appear too weird with a shorter console table? I guess I could put a plan on one side and a standing vase on the other, or maybe two vases? I'm not sure looking for suggestions. Thanks! Here is a link that might be useful: Console Table

Go to your local lighting showroom. The staff at most stores are trained to answer these questions. Take your plans and listen to their advice. They can explain lumens vs Watts, flood vs accent, and how best to light your space.

Somehow, I think you were meaning more of a product to put over the whole kit and kabang not simply painting. If so, YES, there are several choices. Cheapest is to get a fiberglass or acrylic surround at your local big box store. Check to make sure that it can be glued to old tile. Then there is REAL solid surface, like Corian, Swanstone, Transolid, Kohler Choreograph and so on. What makes a solid surface special is that if it should be somehow stained, scuffed, or scratched, it can be repaired by the homeowner. That is because the colors are not on the surface, but are all the way through the material. Some cracks and such can be repaired by professionals, too. These walls can last a lifetime without getting worn looking. No grout, too. Some will have visible caulk in the corners, others, not. There are also shops like Bathfitters, who come in and cover the tub and tile completely, not DYI.

what should I do with my old red brick fireplace during remodeling?

More background about the remodeling project. The living room is a sunken living room and we are raising it to level with the dining room etc. We need to raise it about 8 inches. This fireplace is in the sunken living room. Since the fireplace has a layer of brick that is raised right now and we are going to make the fireplace flush with the new hardwood flooring, we will be raising the fireplace up for about 5.5 inches (8inches - thickness of the one layer brick + thickness of hardwood flooring that will be installed). It is about the thickness of 2 layers of normal red brick and a little more than one layer of the brick that is inside of the fireplace. After raising the fireplace, the opening of the fireplace dimension will be about 24 inch tall * 36 inches wide. Will it look OK? If it is still a “normal” size opening for the fireplace, I tend to want to keep the wood burning fireplace as I can paint it white and it is still functional.
