What window covering for my bow window?

I have a bow window I love and just got rid of the vertical blinds I hated. Now I’m trying to figure out what window covering to replace them with. I’m thinking either Roman or roller shades..possibly cellular shades, but that’s my least favorite option right now. All suggestions welcome, or photographs if you have. I want to try and avoid doing a top treatment..trying to be as simple as possible but not bare, if you know what I mean. It is also part of a LR/DR combo..so I’ll also have to match same thing on casement window in DR. Picture here isn’t the greatest..best I can do right now while trying to keep my daughter out of the photo. The couch is in front of the window. Thanks!!

Another vote for rehabbing the existing windows. The 80+ year old house we just sold has it's original wooden windows, with wooden storm and screens (that have to be switched out seasonally.) We've always kept the double hung windows maintained--no broken pains, etc. the same with the storm and screens. Well-fitting, well-maintained old wooden windows offer MUCH more weather protection than anything you're going to buy today (nothing beats wood as insulation, and 3" dead air space will trump a quarter of an inch every time). I find that our 'new house' with it's 50's windows doesn't compare--even the brand new, high end replacement windows I put in the living room don't do the job like our old wooden windows did. I honestly do not think the people on the river are trying to look into your windows.The shades you have are called solar shades they are made to let oyu enjoy the view but keep the sun and heat out. They provide privacy durin gthe day but at night they become as mentioned see through.I think if privacy is a big deal with you then install drapes that can close at night.

Yes one long curtain rod. Would you be open to doing a crown molding/valance type thing there to cover up the rod. I think that would look nice. Or maybe a pinch pleat type curtain

If you want decorative and no top treatment, I think Romans would work best.

That was my original thought. Have you ever used blinds to go or smith and noble? Trying to figure out best place..got quotes..smith and Noble a bit more $$ measured and installed..but looking for some input in customer service.

We’ve used Smith & Noble in 3 houses now and have measured and installed all ourselves. Highly recommend.

I used to make custom Romans, however, I did buy wood blinds from Smith and Noble. Their customer service is really great. The strings broke on one of the blinds years later and they actually replaced it for free. Also, when I first ordered it, there was a small problem that was my fault, and they also took care of that for free. Highly recommend also.

I also measured and installed myself, so can't comment on that part.

I’m flip flopping between flat and classic style of Roman. Here’s the other window and a couple fabric choices. I also like the option of top down bottom up but I will have 2 cords in each of the 4 windows that make up the bay window. Your thoughts?
