I like the Eames

My pick is eames chair too. lamp & table go with it & with those windows it invites one to sit with a book, blanket & something nice to drink! What would the art look like in place of mirror? Swap them? Big piece balances the drum table & maybe the light could be positioned better with the shade towards back of chair.

You don't say what kind of hip surgery you are having and that makes all the difference. Some surgeries require hip precautions post op, even if it's a full hip replacement, some do not have limitations, some have many so make sure you take that into considerstion first and foremost. Your comfort and recovery take precedence over how the chair looks.

No surgery is forever nor its recuperation time. You put a chair where you want to sit, and it can be from any room, anywhere........even RENTED. Don't know your age or the prescribed recovery. An Eames is FOREVER.

The Eames chair looks perfect for the space with your art and mirror, and is much more inviting.

Definitely the Eames!

The Eames chair is too low for that corner. It looks squashed. The low Eames chair is probably going to be too difficult to get out of after surgery. The big dark art plus the Eames are too heavy and dark for the corner. The windows need some kind of fabric treatment for texture and softness.

The other chair looks too lonely on its own. Eames all the way!

Eames for sure but a lamp that does not hide part of the art and a table that is more suitable for the Eames maybe an Eileen Gray

My dad had a Eames chair and I know how it sits. I have also had multiple surgeries and am of an age where friends and family members have had hip replacements, knee replacements, back problems . . . I have not had any lower body joint issues, but did fracture 4 vertebra about 2 years ago. The Eames chair is an iconic, beautiful piece of furniture, but our family Eames Chair has appropriately been passed down to the next younger generation. I am 59 and the youngest of 6. None of us can get in and out of that chair easily any more. My nephew is 45 and loves relaxing in his Grandpa's chair. Ironically, my dad seldom sat in the Eames chair - might have been that it was not as comfortable for him as he was older when they bought the chair and he was a big guy. (6'4" - 250-300 lb).

I loved my MCM gondola sofa as well, but have purchased a sectional sofa with 3 recliners instead of having my gondola sofa recovered. It was getting rough for me to get in and out of the sofa, but a friend of mine came over and we sat and watched a movie. When the movie was over he literally had to fall out of the sofa onto his hands and knees where he then traversed on his hands and knees to my fireplace so he could get off the floor. This was the decision point for me - time to get something functional and easier for my guests vs something that looks beautiful.

Ugly as they are, lift chairs can't be beat when recovering from many types of surgery. You seem to be deciding what kind of chair you want to look at from your recuperation chair. Either one is a nice chair for looking at, but sit in your own lift chair to do so. You won't regret it. Hopefully, it won't come in handy again later.

Thank you all so much!!! At this point, I have decided that the Eames chair will stay as is and I will move a more comfy chair I have to a quieter room in my house to relax and recover. Looking at the Eames and enjoying the look of my home will also definitely help me recover, so if anyone has specific ideas for better lamps or designs or anything, I’d appreciate them. Our tv is also in the room w/the Eames and I think I need a bit of quiet to recuperate, so...I will prob use the off white, more linen chair in the room that’s quiet. So many thanks! I am so sore these days. You have all helped me so much.

Eames seem to fit the best in the space.
