Can anyone tell me where I can get some fresh rhubarb?
Comments (17)Thanks for the photo comments. The picture is from 2006 and is the rhubarb remaining immediately after a harvest, where all the older stalks on the ground and at low angles have been pulled off. Slug bait pellets are used around this rhubarb on occasion. It is about time for harvest #2 this year. Local strawberries should be widely available by mid-month. Some U-pick notices are already in the paper. The Barn rhubarb is still on display during peach season when we visit....See MoreCan anyone tell me how much a large sago is worth?
Comments (3)Keep in mind that a landscaper cannot use these Sago palms "as is". They must be dug up and potted. Then one has to wait to see if the sago palms survive the transplanting. It can take 2 years for them to fill the pots with roots and be ready for sale. All this obviously takes lots of time and money. Also keep in mind that Florida horticulture is just about in the worst shape its ever been in as far as plants sales go. You probably will be lucky to find some one who will dig them up for you and not charge you to take them away....See Moreput me out of my misery and just tell me what kind of cans to get
Comments (47)remodelfla-thanks for the timely posting on this topic as lighting was next on our list. I intend to call Juno tech myself just to make sure I'm ordering the correct housings and trims. needsometips08-thanks for the info-my kitchen has lots of earthy colors so I guess the wheat will be a good choice. Today, when we were at the lighting store and actually got to see all the different Juno cans we definitely decided on the wheat. That interior color is a very soft, wheat like/pale gold color-it's really pretty. Also it was nice to see the 5" and the 6" mounted up next to each other. For us, it's the 5" even though it is a bit more expensive. What we can't get over is the HUGE price difference between ordering online or with the lighting store. If we order from laner.com we will save $300+ over the price quoted to us from the lighting store. That's a BIG difference. I would have liked to have been able to give the local company my business but not for that much of a price difference. This forum provides so much helpful info. I feel less stressed out!...See MoreVent Screws - Can anyone tell me what this is and where to get it?
Comments (21)Just coming across this discussion a couple years later. my home was milled on site in 1907. since moving in 2 years ago, we have been busy with a list of projects large & small. these wall & floor vents were one of the first things on the list, mostly because I have no interest in fishing my 1 & 3 year old out of them. I agree with you Russ. This was the standard hardware & fashion for the time. There was a metal vent shaft that covered the wood shaft. A screw, then eye of the hook hardware threaded onto screw at one end. The end of the Hook fastens to the hole in the metal shaft. All of mine are this way as well. I have not seen these parts in my searches either. Over the years if the metal shafts are damaged or removed, I’m sure you would have to get creative & secure the vent cover another way. local hvac company sounds like a good place to look. Also, I have come across good accessories online at ”house of antique hardware”. here is a picture of our vent with inside hook & screw attatched & unattached....See More- 3 years ago
