Kitchen organization when the crop (s) come in?
Comments (23)myluck, I was going to say that my DH also likes to weed, but I think he used to like it more than he does now. (g) It's relaxing if you can keep up with it but when you fall behind, it can be a little much. Oh, thanks for reminding me of 'Royal Burgandy' beans. I used to grow those religiously and haven't for a few years. I couldn't find them one year. Then I tried pole beans and I did find a purple one called 'Trionfo Violetto' which are very good too. I'll have to try those again. I haven't tried 'Jet Star' either. I have less than full sun and cherry tomatoes do better for me. 'Sungold' or 'Sunsugar' cherry tomato is my family's favorite. 'Marconi' pepper has been the best pepper producer for me so far. I buy starts for the warm season vegetables, because my garden is pretty small. This year they were out of 'Giant Marconi' and they offered me something they said was a real producer. It was a dud. 'SugarSnap' Peas are very easy and trouble free and very sweet and crunchy. 'Parris Island' Romaine Lettuce. I've tried a couple of other varieties and have come back to that one. 'Waltham Butternut' squash has performed well for me. A lot of tried and true varieties. When I want to try something new, I usually take a look at the reviews on Cornell's Vegetable Varieties site. I'm trying to preserve tomatoes. I'm thinking of making up some spaghetti sauce tomorrow with some of them and freezing that. Here is a link that might be useful: Cornell Vegetable Varieties...See MoreDo you have a kitchen command center organization system?
Comments (1)I am in the middle of setting up my command center. I went from a small desk (piled high with clutter) to an enclosed section of my pantry. I don't know how it will ultimately turn out, but I will post pics when it's done....See MoreKitchen Sink Organization
Comments (21)Sorry, not for me either. Too much clutter. I have some plastic pullout drawers that fit perfectly under my sink. In the top drawer I keep my dishwasher tabs. In the second drawer I keep my sponges, dish brush, vegetable brushes (in a separate small container inside the drawer), etc. In the third drawer I have backup supply of sponges and dish brush, and, finally, in the fourth drawer (the largest drawer) I keep microfiber cloths for wiping down the appliances and granite counter tops. On top of the drawers I keep a supply of liners for my garbage can , and I keep a very small dish drainer between the side of the cabinet and the plastic drawers. No muss, no fuss....See MoreKitchen organization challenge
Comments (2)The kitchen is looking good. I made my own peg drawer and spice organizer. For the knife drawer, I just insert a flat knife organizer bought from goodwill. Leave one deep drawer for oils etc and another one for spatulas & utensils upright....See MoreAnnKH
