Comments (4)Glad to see you intend to loose the shutters. I like you vision a lot, but I would make the door by the garage white rather than red. Reserve red for the front door. Good job!...See MoreWood-clad Windows & Sliding Doors - Replacement v. New
Comments (10)" Looking at wood clad products" Brickmould on a wood clad product is aluminum. Same material as the window frame. If you choose wood clad windows with brickmould, your builder/installer will not have to trim out the exterior of your windows, The aluminum brickmould is more expensive than wood trim but will not have to be painted. It is usually an aesthetic choice but most often wood trim is the choice. Also agree that the Marvin/La Cantina is much better choice especially if the pricing is close which is usually not the case with Lincoln vs. Marvin....See MoreReplace broken asbestos siding with strange size
Comments (1)If you can't find salvage replacements about the only option is to rob one side of the house entirely for replacements. And figure out something else for that naked side. Mom had those shingles on her house. At some point, she removed them from the front and did a typical (updated look at that time) ranch style treatment on the front. Horizontal lap wainscoting and vertical over. Post pictures for suggestions. Now, something like board & batten would probably be more appropriate. Theoretically. Pictures really needed because style of house will drive suggestions....See MoreIdeas on exterior siding and replacement windows
Comments (36)Thanks for sharing the information about how you're refinancing to do renovations. However, it doesn't cost a penny to clear up all the extra doodads and junk on that porch. A good motto for interiors and exteriors is: declutter first, /renovate redecorate second. Decluttering also allows you to spot problem areas you may not have noticed. Decluttering allows you to see the "bones" of a structure or a room to see the basics of what you have to work with. Your potentially terrific house is overwhelmed with "stuff" that takes away from some nice features: the tongue and groove porch ceiling, the red brick supports, Do you have a friend or relative who can help you do a clean-up now before you decide on color choices, landscaping, etc? Cindy, you're still pushing and stuck on "cosmetics" and not the basics. Here's an exercise in deciding about how to proceed. Add up all the "likes" in these Comments. What are Commentors mainly advising you to do in your game plan? What's the order of business they're suggesting?...See Moredan1888
