Please Help Finish Kitchen - Double Pendant Light
Comments (31)Katie - That could be a real possibility too. Looks like the height would work too. Thanks for the link and website. Redroze - I saw the two you posted on TOCL website today and really like both. I am planning on contacting them tomorrow. Here is my question, do you think this light from Rejuvenation is close enough to the top picture in your last post? The one from Rejuvenation is a little cheaper and I've seen it in person in satin nickel, but I'm not as crazy about the extra "balls" and "bulbs" on the rods. The one from TOCL seems simpler to me and might be worth the extra couple of hundred of dollars. Or would no one notice the difference? I swear I'm not normally this picky and usually can find lots of things I like, but for some reason now I feel like this stupid light has to be just perfect since I've already returned one. I should just had my electrician do two electrical boxes, but now the one is centered in the ceiling and he would have to cut two new holes and patch the old one. I'm not sure I want to go down that road. Here is a link that might be useful: Rejuvenation Light...See MorePendants: fixed rod or dangly cord?
Comments (17)Nepool, Thanks, it's hard to gauge sometimes when you're just going from a picture. From this picture, I assumed there was an ORB rod. In actuality, it is a silver wire cord, with a silver colored rod that goes up a few inches from the glass. The wire is very stiff which is why it has a kink (for those that wondered why the 'cord' had a kink in it). I don't forsee any swinging in the breeze... Some of the other pendants we looked at come with a number of rods that screw together to get the length you want. Of course you have to want one of those multiples, ie every 16/20/24 inches, whatever length the rods are. Comments (7)kathieo - the kitchen/dining areas in our new home will have vaulted ceilings, too - so I know what a pain the light fixture selections can be. In fact, I still haven't decided ... :) We were told by our lighting salesperson that the mini-pendants over the penninsula would need to either hang from chains or the soft pliable cords so that multiple pendants could easily be adjusted to hang evenly. Apparently they're somewhat more difficult to position from a vaulted ceiling? I'm still not sure I get that ... but will pass it on FWIW... I agree with florantha that a white matte globe - something frosted, alabaster or white marbled - would be good. I would use brushed nickel or similar finish and stay with something with simple lines/few details - and like florantha, with down-facing globes - all to make keeping them clean a little easier. You could either stay with a traditional look to coordinate with your kitchen/dining table, or introduce a tasteful bit of whimsy into your kitchen with some carefully chosen pendants ... :) I would probably use only two of them - spaced sort of just barely either side of your cooktop - and would hang them as high as maybe 40" over the bar. I would also go ahead and add a coordinating dining table chandy while you're at it .... And that's my two cents .... :) Lezli...See MorePicking pendant lights
Comments (23)Thanks all. My husband hated the Kichler Quinn. He hates drum lights. He is difficult! He is set on a light that doesnt hang down over the kitchen table. I may be able to change that, but i'm not sure. He's very set in his ideas. So far I am thinking of either the Hudson Valley Darien in Antique Nickel with a white glass shade (8" size) Or the Boston pendant on Circa Lighting's page in Antique Nickel Or I could go back with the pendants I had in my last house, which were Hubbardton Forge. They dont have a nickel finish, but I could get Smoke, Black, Burnished Steel...In my last house I had black, but the part right above the glass globe was copper. It was very pretty And then I am sort of liking one of these lights for over the table (if I went with HF) or Still unsure on the Hubbardton Forge though. I like the lights when I see them in a room, but I'm not always sold just seeing a picture of the light by itself....See More54ndy b34ch
