I would post it to Facebook Market as free to a good home. I had one from the early 80’s and ended up giving it to a gal who wanted to learn but didn’t have the money for a machine. The look on her face when I gave it to her was priceless. :c) If it works, there’s a good chance someone else could use it

Not a good enough picture to tell anything. It appears to be the Singer that my mother had. The main question would be first does it run. Hers had massive corrosion in the working parts. If it does you can attempt to sell it for mask making or simply donate to a charity if they will accept it. The ones around here will not.

I can't see it well enough to tell what it is. I have the Singer my mother bought in the 50's with all its attachments/accessories. It sews like a dream. In great shape, when not in use and out on her sewing table, it was kept in its case. I do the same with it.

your post says 'it works'. then it is worth something to someone. offer it to a good home - a young person wanting to learn or an older person (maybe a mom with kids), someone who can't afford to buy even a cheap one. I started sewing at about 9 - on an old treadle. and as a young mom of 4 - I used my machine (a new one, not the old treadle) a lot for repairing their clothes - hemming, replacing zippers, elastic and ripped seams etc.

Donate it.

It isn't worth a lot of money if that's what you are wondering. However, as others have said, it would be nice to gift or donate it since it works

I learned to sew on a Singer treadle sewing machine that had been manufactured in the late 1800s. It worked, had been my paternal grandmother's, and we used it.

I would not toss a working sewing machine. Often those older all metal geared machines are superior to current machines that have a lot of plastic in the internals. It isn't a free arm machine so that is one strike against it AFAIC. Otherwise, if it is at least a straight stitch & zig zagger, some one will want it and be able to use it. I really only care if the machine has zig zag, blind hem & a stretch stitch or two.

It looks like it is supposed to fit into a special cabinet rather than to sit on a table.

Not having a free arm reduces its value, and it might be difficult to maintain.

I have a manual Viking Husqvarna from about 1992 and a Brother CS6000i that is computerized (which I did not want) that I bought this year so that I would have a sewing machine at both houses. I already had two sergers, although I was considering getting rid of my older one, and I'm glad now that I didn't.

There is a lot to be said for the new machines, and I think they have been doing a lot of improvements on the computerized ones over the ones that were available in the 1990s. My older manual machine (which cost almost five times as much as the newer one) is much better at sewing multiple layers of thick fabric. I'm glad I have two machines. The new one is supposed to be good for quilting, but I have not gotten into that yet and probably will not in the near future. I haven't ruled it out, however, although any quilts I make would not resemble anything I've seen so far.

If you do not intend to sew on the machine you have, then donating it is probably the best idea.

I had an old sewing machine I wanted to get rid of, so before we moved, we put it out by the road with a free sign on it...it disappeared right quick.

Definitely do not toss it! Someone would love to have it especially if it still works! I use my sister's old Singer that is from late 70s. I've been using it for many years...she gave it to me when she got a fancy Bernina. It just has to be taken in to be cleaned/oiled occasionally. It has no free arm and I still use it all the time for this and that.

If you have local facebook friends, maybe post on there to ask if anyone would like to have it. With everyone making masks now, this machine is all you need for that!

Do not throw it away. Find a home for it. Maybe someone will want it to just learn how to sew with. I love old sewing machines and do have a bit of a collection of sewing machines. I have not sewn since last spring.

Looks like a 1960's Singer and yes, they were workhorses that sew a beautiful straight stitch. Plus you can use is as a dumbbell, they weight a fair bit.

I love vintage sewing machines, especially Singer machines . I'm glad you're going to donate it instead of tossing it.

sheilajoyce, I learned to sew on my Grandmother's Singer treadle sewing machine.

How old is it? I still use my Kenmore from 1978. I don't do a lot of sewing but it still runs great. I even have my grandmother's 1910 Singer treadle with all the foot attachments that works. Best thing would be to donate it since you won't get a lot of money for it. Not worth the hassle.
