I don't understand how anyone can think anything looks good any way. It's not about some set of 'rules'. Is it just the idea of 'design' that irritates some people? Of course a person can do anything they want. But some things just don't work, whether everyone can see or appreciate it or not. It's not always all just a matter of personal taste, though many of the opinions sought or given on threads are just personal taste (so not very relevant really unless you're decorating by counting votes.) It's the difference between something that's well done or not. If everything and anything always looks good, why bother to ask or to even think about things? It wouldn't even be necessary.

tkaye - Unfortunately this greenhouse is no longer made. It was made by the PBM-GROUP. The last time they made it was 2003. I got it used and had to replace a third of the glass panels. Check Craigslist for used ones or if you have a Harbor Freight close by they sell greenhouses for a very reasonable price. It is a kit that you put together. Check out the GW Greenhouse Forum. Hazie, your practice piece looks magnificent!!! I just love it. The colors are so vibrant and free...you found your funk and are now funkified!!!!!! Hope to do a piece that creative my self one day. I am always so envious of all of you that can just go with the flow and make it up as you go along! Now you've got Hazie in the loop...I just gotta learn to let go!!!

Our porch screens/windows are similar to yours. If the day is not too cold and is not windy and the sun is shining, it is very pleasant there for well into the heating season. Our porch is on the side of the house so we put up a large tree decorated with little white lights and all my nature and gardening ornaments. We also decorate the rest of the space for Christmas. The tree can be seen from the street and when we entertain we open the door from the house and use two space heaters. There are always people on the porch looking at the tree and enjoying some hot cider that we serve on the porch. If it happens to be snowing, we turn on the out side lights and it is beautiful looking out. Enjoy your porch for as long as possible. Linda
