the goo is gumosis ....a systemic problem that is not correctable ... and will lead to the trees demise ... which in tree time.. might be 5 or 10 years ... who knows ...

the leaf issue reminds me of japanese beetles ... but you would have to find the bug for complete ID ... and it might be long gone.. since i see unaffected leaves ...

where are you.. big city name ... isnt this a deciduous tree ... and it will soon be losing its leaves ... so who cares if they fall off ugly ...

it is tree planting time for most of us.... perhaps its time to plant a new tree or two.. and plan on getting rid of this one due to the disease ....

I would like to know about the gue stuff on the tree. Thanks for the web link, which contained the information about the same. You are right this is a deciduous tree, and it will soon be losing its leaves.

I took a photo of a dead bug. I found it, in the bird feeder hanging on this tree. I am attaching a photo of the same.

I live in Canada and start feeling cold already. So I don't think it is a good time to plant a new tree this year.

see link about timing .... fall is when you plant dormant trees.. or soon to be dormant.. if you can get them ...

never forget.. unlike you.. plants dont FEEL COLD ... and they can grow roots.. deep into the winter... especially if your ground does not freeze ...

Sorry for the late reply. I live nearby the CIty of Toronto. Usually, stores don't sell trees/plants in this weather. We already have a single-digit temperature at night. Backyards are buried in snow in the wintertime from January to April every year.
