Samsung dishwashers and ranges
Comments (3)We recently picked the Samsung FTQ353IWUX electric freestanding range. It's been pretty solid for the last 2 months, long-term we'll see. Feature wise it had convection, a warming drawer, and an industrial look for under $1k, and those the key boxes we needed checked. Coming from a condo-stock GE electric range, I can't really tell the difference in performance. They both work, the Samsung just has more features that have really saved me. I thought I would never use the warming drawer, but as I'm a terribly sporadic & poorly timed cook, I have used it *many* times in the last 2 months....See MoreReview of Samsung DMT800RHS
Comments (6)Do not buy this dishwasher. The motherboard in this unit is a hunk of junk. Purchased the dishwasher 10/08/10 from Lowes with an extended warrantee. Since I have owned this dishwasher, it's been replaced once, plus an additional replacement of FIVE main motherboards. Taking multiple days off from work, (for a four hour window) only to find out that the dishwasher needs another repair because of the faulty motherboard. The latest one was replaced a week ago, and it's already not working. In the dark of night I have to go out with my flashlight, and trip the switch on my circuit breaker, just to get it to work. It can take several tries to power it up. It's ridiculous! I've called Samsung and spoke with customer relations, but all they tell me to do is contact the extended warrantee company, (through Lowe's). When I talk with the extended warrantee company, they say they were instructed by Samsung to keep replacing the board. If you google Samsung, and this motherboard problem associated with this dishwasher, the internet is loaded with complaints on this same issue. I asked what exactly deems a dishwasher a lemon? All they could say is that, "it's multiple issues over the second year of ownership. What??? Samsung knows there is an issue with this dishwasher, yet no customer service to correct or credit me towards a reliable product. Replacing one faulty motherboard, with another known faulty motherboard is not customer service. I am extremely disappointed in the direction of the quality that the Samsung product is going. This comes from a homeowner who has multiple Samsung products in their home. TV's, Blue Ray, Fridge, Washer and Dryer. I will have to go another direction next time I'm in the market for electronics, or a major appliance. Mean while, the powers that be at Samsung think it's ok for consumers to buy their expensive products, run out to the circuit box, trip the circuit several times, hope that they can power up their dishwasher, and cross their fingers that they don't have to wash their dishes... yet again by hand....See MoreThe latest on Samsung and Bosch?
Comments (13)>About 2 years later, our microwave broke. It would cost more to fix than to buy a new one of a different model. Bosch does not make microwaves, they import them from China like almost everyone else. Microwaves are disposable: they're almost always cheaper to replace than to repair. You don't give any details about the specific one you had trouble with, but I'm assuming you got an expensive built-in model. Lesson for next time: instead of a built in microwave, make an alcove in your cabinetry that you can stick any old $150 microwave into. >Just last week (a little less than 4 years later) our fridge doesn't cool. There is an ice buildup at the back preventing it from reading the proper temp, or something like that. Bosch customer service has been less than helpful. Stuff breaks. It doesn't sound like your fridge has been a lemon, a non-major malfunction in 4 years on any appliance is nothing alarming. As for customer service, what were you expecting them to do? Repair it for free even though it is years out of warranty? What makes your situation so special that you think you deserve that treatment other customers wouldn't get? Again, you give no information about the particular fridge you have, but freestanding refrigeration is Bosch's weak point because they outsource it as well. The french doors are rebadged Whirlpools, which are good units but you're paying a price premium for the Bosch logo on the front. The side by sides used to be imported from Daewoo in Mexico, now they are imported from China. Let's just say the reviews on those, erm, haven't been too great. >My advice is to avoid Bosch. My advice is to avoid appliance packages of any kind because you will never get the most for your dollar. If you'd done your research like the OP is doing, you would have known that the Bosch DW and cooking were good choices (interestingly enough, those are the two you apparently didn't have problems with) and you would have gone elsewhere for your microwave and fridge. I don't even know why I bothered wasting the time to write that post as most of these people visit forums once and never come back since they rarely have anything else to contribute. Comments (23)We bought a Miele Lumen dishwasher a couple years ago and have had nothing but problems from the time it was installed. The dishes don’t get clean. I have tried all their “suggestions” and several different soaps. A tech came out a few times but nothing changed. As a last-ditch effort, I recently decided to try it on the “sanitize” cycle and that worked finally. The part I hate about this is that it is a 2 hour and 50-minute cycle!!!! So much for saving on electricity. On their website it says “Save up to 50% on electricity. All Miele Dishwashers can be connected to a hot water connection at a temperature of up to 150°F. This reduces electricity consumption by up to 50% and running times by up to 10%. In the Economy program, the energy consumption of the dishwasher drops to as little as 0.45 kWh.” If I ran it on economy my dishes would be so dirty! The dishwasher also condensates or leaks water under my cabinet and drips onto the floor leaving a puddle. Not to mention it drips on the electronic panel. I imagine there is a failure waiting to happen there. On the same side it drips it also build up all the gunk on the inside of the door panel. It is weird and I have no clue how this is happening. I keep cleaning it off and the next day it is back again after a cycle of dishes. I have pictures and video of everything I am explaining. Lastly, I have a horrible rattle when the dishwasher first starts. We had a working KitchenAid before we thought we were “upgrading” to a Miele. We now wish we had never got rid of the KitchenAid. We have a Miele vacuum and have been happy. Miele is supposed to be the best of the best. Sad to say that after our experience with the dish washer we will never buy a Miele product again. To say I hate this dishwasher is an understatement! I’m ready to “office space” it! After I wrote a review awhile back a manager had contacted me and had someone come out to try to “fix” it. However, nothing was ever fixed. In fact, after inspecting under my sink recently I have noticed that the water line is connected to the cold water. It should be connected to the hot water, per their website. I have reached out recently but no one has returned my emails/calls....See MoreAsh Y
