Thoughts on this mirror for the living room?
Comments (40)Thanks, All!! jujubean, I am utterly flattered!!! I love Draper/Varney and have looked in many of their books and online pics for inspiration. I had seen the Grand Hotel pics but forgot about that print in the dining room. So so gorgeous! A friend went to the Greenbrier recently and sent me a pic of one of the cafes' wallpaper. It is the Varney take on the Beverly Hills banana leaf. I wanted that for my dining room but the cost was prohibitive so I went with drapes in a similar, but way less expensive, banana leaf fabric. Here is a pic (it's kind of dark - sorry): I will try and get better pics of the living room today, when there is better light. And I think the fabric on the couch/chair is great too! DH was the one that wanted to get them in the first place but now he doesn't like them as much as he thought he would. No matter, they are going to stay for a while. I would rather keep them and spend $ on things we need! Or things I want more. : ) kswl, funny you mention the topiaries. Even without the mirror I was thinking they might be too tall. Still not sure but I will see what I think when the mirror is in place for a bit. yaya, ha!...See MoreThoughts on living room.
Comments (9)I love the coffee table, the accent pieces on it are lovely as well, but it just looks dark to me, too much brown/beige going on, you need to bring the room back to life, maybe put a green plant somewhere, get a bigger rug and place it under both sofas. Gold accents go great with blue, i dont like the curtains, you could go with white curtains to brighten up the room and a table lamp or floor lamp....See MoreBoho-Modern Living Room and Dining Room. Thoughts and advice?
Comments (5)I think your design is a great starting point. Love all the plants you have going on. That ottoman doesn't fit the style very well, but I think a different ottoman could. Something more like the one in hollybar's first pic. An ikat patterned fabric would be great. Also, you'll notice that every inspo pic has bright white walls. Yours are very neutral, so they'll likely work, but your room might feel a bit different because of the color. I would avoid using lots of different colors, since boho tends to be very neutral. The pop of color on the ottoman is all you need. Try to keep the art fairly subdued, or very natural feeling. Love the white frames and mats in your design. Botanical prints could work well. Or maybe use more structural art pieces instead of prints. Look through all those inspo pics for ideas. Texture is super important to make boho work, especially since there's not a lot of color. The interest comes from the texture. Wood, leather, metal, knit are all great textures to introduce. Subtle patterns are good too. Get a very textural rug as a good base. Maybe sisal or more shaggy....See MoreYour Thoughts/Ideas on Living Room Layout?
Comments (3)@HU-187528210 Thank you sooo much! We can absolutely avoid the built-in on the left wall 😊 I'm not particularly keen on that option either as it may detract from the FP and also make the room feel a bit crowded/narrow the entry way. Even without the built-in, the left wall does seem to provide the best location for a tv if we decide to have one since I love the little niche atop the FP and don't want to cover up that detail. Trying to visualize a good set up/use on that wall so it's open but doesn't feel empty! Thank you so much for your input! 🧡...See MoreDLM2000-GW
