I own a Jenn Air CVG4280B gas cooktop that was purchased in 2002. Great unit for most of the 20 years we owned it. Recently we started having issues with the knobs, and not being able to turn them. The burner controls were completely stuck (corroded). Now being a tech myself, I went through removing the venturi and removing the one burner control that was stuck. Each burner control has a switch on it that slides down the stem. When you start moving those switches around to remove the venturi, the connectors on the wire ends break off (junk), and the next thing you know you have multiple wires hanging loose and no idea where they go. I scoured the internet looking for a wiring diagram, and none to be found anywhere. I finally called Jenn Air's help line, and was quickly told they do not supply these diagrams to the public! IMAGINE THAT. So I have no choice now but to buy a new cooktop, and you can be sure it won't be a Jenn Air!!! This is a common problem with these gas cooktops. If you get into this repair, be certain that you take pictures of everything beforehand. Mark each wire somehow so you know where it goes. You will not receive any help otherwise to reassemble your cooktop, especially from Jenn Air.

I had a height problem with my new refrigerator. It fit the standard 36” wide cutout in the cabinetry, but the raised hinges on the newer refrigerator would not allow the cabinet doors above to open. The best solution would be getting or making a new bridge cabinet above the frige, and then cutting the existing matching cabinets doors to a shorter hieght. Quite a chore. Instead I just removed the cabinet hinge mounting screw and now use the doors as simply removable panels. Problem solved the lazy mans way.

What's funny is how so many companies use the exact same fridge made by someone else with their name on it. When we were looking a new fridges, we really liked the Jennair CD FD as well as the Kitchenaid model. Well, you can tell by opening them that they are exactly the same. Even the font and sticker placement on interior stickers are identical. We saved $500 by going with the Jennair and six months later we love it. A few weeks ago I was goofing off at an electronics store where I saw a Viking CD FD refridgerator and noticed that it too is exactly the same as the Jennair and Kitchenaid, only with a very fancy front door and handle. They were selling it for $1500 more then what I paid for my Jennair. Viking is making some nice profit on that one...

The problem I have is my door wont open at all. Neither the remote nor the wall button will budge it. The wall unit and the overhead opener seem to be communicating, since the lightbulbs are flashing, and turn on and off when told to. The remotes seem to have no affect at all. I replaced the chain onto the sprocket assemby and was adjusting the up and down on the main unit, Unit does nothing now when I press button on wall, is it possible to have adjusted the up/down too much to make unit not operate?Anyone have any ideas why my door won't work at all? I would expect the motor to at least chug or something, but...nuthin! Just flashing lights when i press the wall buttons. Sears Model 139.53975SRT1. HELP!
