Name That Plant!

Plant ID needed

I think this is an annual. I bought it in the spring and it has performed so well! I want to make sure I get it next year. I thought it was a Coleus because I did buy it at the same time that I bought a bunch of other Coleus. This one is so carefree and pretty. Once I know the name I will research if it can be over-wintered.

someone else will ID it ...

but just by looking at it.. i bet you can take cuttings .. and root a couple hundred of your own for the cost of a used tray and some media ...

the only question is whether it is winter hardy for you.. and whether you can do it outdoors or need to string along a potted plant indoors ..... so you can take pieces in spring ...

I'v been trying to ill that for the past ten years. It's very persistent and sets roots every few feet.

It's hardy, tough as nails. Blooms summer into fall. Continues to expand. Low maintenance, but can appear less than civilized. Not tall or cumbersome like "regular sunflowers", more dainty-looking.

I'd like to see a fully open flower first. Leaves look more like azalea while buds look very gardenia-like. If it is an azalea, it is not going to be very happy for very long indoors. They make very poor houseplants.

Thanks for the link. I have been trying to research what could be causing the skin irritation other than the poison ivy I have spotted. This is my first spring in this house and some stuff is starting to grow and bloom so I will have more to ID with soon. I am almost afraid to clean up after the painful rashes. There is a ton of Brazilian Pepper across the back of the property. If I remove it, I loose all the privacy back there so I am torn about what to do. The one with the serrated edges and red stem looks different than the Brazilian Pepper I think. Maybe that is a baby pepper?

Plectranthus australis 'Variegatus' - aka Swedish ivy. It is related to coleus and is easily propagated by cuttings. Often grown as a houseplant.

ETA: not the same plant as dandy's - suspect that is variegated ground ivy (creeping Charlie). Plectranthus is not winter hardy in most zones.
