We’ve been choosing transitional (traditional and a bit contemporary) during this reno. I like Shea McGee’s style and pottery barn. The table would probably be a natural wood round table farmhouse style with light chairs but i haven’t picked anything. I don’t know how to design. I was considering lantern pendants or kichler everly (size 10.5?) but they don’t have brushed nickel with clear glass. @Jan Moyer . The dining light is older, and way too big for the table there. Although, it actually looks okay with the other lighting when in person. It is a matte black. I am getting my refinished table back today. The light pictured above the one we would like to put in the hallway.

You have a very challenging space to light with the angled ceiling and post. If you want to go recessed over the table, 2 would be better, but I would consider lighting the shelf wall with accents, which would require a sloped ceiling housing because a gimbal trim would not be adequate (same situation lighting the counters under the sloped ceiling). You could do gimbals on the flat ceiling, then I would only have 1 recessed over the table (or back to chandelier). I might not do pendants just over the sink, as the bar counter is a skinny depth, there is a matching one on the other counter leg not pendant-ized, and you have a column which offsets the balance and detracts from any pendants. But that comment is my aesthetic opinion, not a functional one, where pendants would work.

The kitchens pictured below are larger than yours, but I included these pictures because they show the recessed lighting. Sometimes recessed lights are photoshopped out of professional photos. The pendants shown would also provide better quality light than a lantern type fixture so if you decide to look at different fixtures you'll have an idea of what might work better. In a small kitchen sometimes it's better to just have recessed lighting and skip the pendants. I don't have pendants and I wouldn't call my kitchen small, but it's not large, either. I don't miss them, and I won't add them when it comes time to remodel. I am just going to have a small chandelier over my kitchen table. The placement of recessed lights is such that the lights illuminate the counters. The best time to have them installed would be now when everything is already torn up.
