What disease does my tree have?
Comments (1)The tree is a White Mulberry. The fungus is some sort of bracket fungus, not sure which one, but in general, fungi like this are usually secondary. That is, the branch started dying first from some other reason, and the bracket fungus then grows in the dead/dying wood, it won't attack healthy wood. Are the dead branches in the shade of other branches, or in full sun? Resin...See MoreDoes my young maple have a disease?
Comments (6)This is most interesting. It's just come to my attention on another forum that there are some species being affected in this way including maples,in particular Acer Campestre. There is speculation of sun damage and even protection against browsing animals but no-one seems sure what's the cause. Sorry I don't know the answer but good luck,we'd all like to know what's going on :)...See MoreDoes my young maple have a disease?
Comments (0)Hello, I'm hoping someone with a little bit more knowledge and experience can help me figure out if one of the young Japanese maples in my yard has some sort of disease. The tree is only a few years old and actually started as a tiny seedling I assume from the seeds of one of the mature trees in the yard. The bark seems to have really deep woody ridges and sharp 'pimply' spots on the trunk and branches. When I broke off a few of the thinner pieces it was green underneath. At first I thought (or more accurately wistfully hoped) it was just growing bark weirdly, but it only seems to be on the upper side of the branches and 4 inches up from the base of the trunk (the bottom 4 inches look more like the bark on the other Japanese maples I have). I would like to move it as it's right next to our porch. If anyone could please help I would greatly appreciate it. I've attached some pictures as well....See MoreDoes my dogwood have a disease?
Comments (4)where are you ... did you have drought this year??? i am NEVER concerned by about october.. about what leaves look like on a deciduous tree ... and even earlier.. if i had a drought/heat wave for most of the summer ..like i did in my part of MI ... look for disease in early to mid summer ... that is when you MIGHT want to worry about it ... as the leaves shut down... they can be attacked by all kinds of things ... so its hard to use such to define any problems ... besides ... even if you could ID something.. you wouldnt go spraying a leaf that is going to fall off soon enough ... about all you can do .. if you insist on doing anything ... is cleaning up all the leaves.. so they arent there in spring to cause any problem ... ken...See More- 3 years ago
