Novice Help Needed -- Grease/Lube for 2003 Sears DLT 3000
Comments (13)Thanks for all the help. I had time today to get most of the work done. I went a bit nuts (for me) and removed the deck so I could really clean the underside really well. Took a little longer than I planned, but generally went well. The grease part was pretty easy (thanks to all of your help.) I did not changes the fuel line (didn't really need to -- I read somewhere it was a good idea to change those after 5 years, but I have not had any real problems with it .. so I left it as-is.) One problem I did have -- I could not get the old oil filter off. Not sure if it just was tightened to hard last time, or not lubed enough around the gasket. I just went ahead and put the new oil in and moved on with the old filter (Kohler actually only recommends changing it every other oil change.) I have one of the band/clamp oil removal tools, but it's really hard to get any leverage with the tight area. I was going to spray some WD40 around it to see if would loosen it, but thought I would ask around if that was a good idea or not. Any thoughts? Are there any tools that are better for tight spaces? Thanks again for all the help!...See MoreMy dated kitchen & living room need help
Comments (34)Just paint that trim! why try and match flooring to it? Do a little everyday, and within a month it will be done. seriously. paint for like, an hour a day. It's not a big deal. (make sure you clean them and prime them if necessary. I don't know if they're that 'plastic-wood type of molding or real wood) you only have 800 sq ft. not that much to do. leave the bedrooms if you want. You said you wanted an update. just throwing down LVP isn't really an update. So paint the trim! leave the doors if you want, as it looks fine w/white trim work. those melamine cabs can be painted, but why bother? check Craigslist for people practically giving away these solid oak cabinets and paint those. or try the Ikea. I've see people on craigslist sell an entire oak kitchen with granite and appliances for under 1K....See MorePlease help? Time to up date kitchen counters and backsplash - Help!
Comments (24)Rachel M. Frazier - Whew - I've been second guessing myself so badly. Thanks for affirming my choices. I keep scrolling back to all the comments about going with a white counter on the perimeter and the picture you posted. And while it's actually almond in color, not white, I'm thinking maybe I can get the same effect using the same principles applied for white. I wasn't planning to change the base color of the island - should I be? And I'm planning to keep the island counter the same as the perimeter. I can't see myself giving a wood counter the proper care it'd need over time. Do you think I'll need to swap hardware? It's currently a satin nickel color? Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I just want to update it! In the next few weeks, the BS will be removed, Silken Pearl installed as well as a new undermounted sink and faucet. I keep telling myself, one step at a time - all the while wanting all the pieces of this puzzle put together before I start. So many details! I sure appreciate the help!...See MoreDo you think this inspiration pic is dated? Kitchen refresh idea
Comments (16)Really like shirlpp's link to laminate -- some very realistic white marbles, etc. If you add a white tile backsplash and white laminate countertop, you'll have a much, much nicer kitchen. I'd also look for a stainless-look dishwasher panel cover so that appliances (other than refrigerator) are consistent. I'd also look for a stainless, covered garbage can, if it needs to be visible. There's a lot of appliances on the counters -- depending on use and preference, you might want to store them behind doors. I really like the kitchen and dining floors -- are they terra cotta tile? It's hard to see the tall cabinet next to the laundry, but I think I would replace it with a nice furniture style armoire or tall cabinet as a large, decorative but functional accent piece. And as someone who LOVES light fixtures, I'd change the boob lights. All in all, I think your kitchen will look great, and I hope you post the 'after' photos to prove it....See MoreJulie Clark
