Hey guys! I've done some research on this subject because I have the same problem. My couch is all down feather filled. It seems like a foolish idea now because when you sit down you are guaranteed to get poked by a sharp feather. so... problem: some material needs to be put between the pillow and the pillow case to stop the feathers from coming through Solution: Plastic- will work obviously, but it may come at the risk of your couch having a plastic feel and sound coming from it. Fabric- a high thread count means that the fabric is thicker and therefore harder for the feathers to penetrate. What thread count will stop down from coming through. 200 or more thread count will slow the rate at which feathers penetrate and that rate will be determined by the fabric used. 200 however is the universal safe number for ultimate down feather stoppage! NOW... saying that, there is this magic material designed just for the purpose of stopping the down feather assault it is called TICKING. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticking It is what your grandmothers old chair was covered in. It is common at all fabric stores and I used it between my pillows and covers of the couch. since then I have not seen a feather nor felt one! the thread count on ticking is 220. It comes in different patterns as well so it can be used as the outer cover of furniture . hope this helps,

I frankly think that valances and especially doilies are really no longer seen nowadays. I don't think the white valance is too noticeable if you have your heart set on it. The pillow looks fine, and it doesn't have to exactly match the throw. Introducing some yellow or gold into the room might be a good counterpoint against the green and white. Do you have to buy all the furniture pieces for the bedroom? It's not really considered desirable to have everything in one style or color, it's too matchy matchy. It will be interesting to see how your white bedding goes with the alabaster furniture.

Wow, thank you guys! I'm glad to receive so much feedback. Sure thing, Yayagal. Here's a better photo of the corner below. I've taken the twigs out of the vases, and I like it better. I hung the pictures lower, and put a throw over the back of the chair. It's just something I had over my bed, but I plan to get a more textured throw later like y'all suggested. Maybe a faux fur one. Right now, I'm looking for a long rod I can hang from one end of the wall to the other over the glass doors, and wide panels that will cover each wall on either side. Trying to turn it into sort of accent wall just by using curtains. See RL Relocations curtain pic above for reference. I'm learning that larger fake plants can be a little expensive. The one I posted above is $500. I was wondering, if put some botanicals coming out of the taller white vase, would that be enough(examples below) or do y'all think a more substantial plant would be appropriate?
