Anyone owns this 800 Series 30 in Bosch induction Stovetop?

There are a few things I want to know for me to buy this stovetop. Have you tried to put a paper towel underneath when cooking and did it burn? I've been told that the pans are the issue to the noise, but still ask. Have you experienced any humming or noise? Also has anything ever burned on the surface of the cooktop when there is spillage?

The product is an absolute disaster! I purchased a Induction Cooktop and it cooks unevenly and only in the center. NIT866UC. Customer Service is an even bigger joke. They should be ashamed for selling this product. There is no direct number that you can call and speak to someone who knows the product. I was advised to HAND WRITE a letter to the corporate office. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING BOSCH.

I have a GE Profile induction slide in and I love it. It's my second one. When I moved, I bought a new one for my second house. I do cook with a paper towel on the top surface to avoid scratches.

Hi. We installed a 36" 800 Bosch in November. The cost to upgrade our service from 40 to 50 amps was $450 - BUT that included the electrician putting in one new outlet in the kitchen plus installing a ceiling light fixture in the family room (both were run from existing outlets). His estimate for putting in the 50 amp line & breaker originally was $500, but it ended up to be less -- always a plus! We went for the 36" because we did just what others have suggested here: consider how we cook and what and how many burners we use frequently. We discovered that we often use three burners at a time (pasta boiling in one pot, sauce being prepared in another -- often a skillet -- and veggies cooking in a third). So we wanted some room to do that and the right sized burners to match the pans we use. Also, since we were going to use a downdraft (again) instead of a hood, we wanted at least one of the larger burners near the back. Additionally we liked that the Bosch had only one of the small 6.5" hobs -- some brands had two. That's a hob we knew we wouldn't use much. All in all, we have been very pleased with our choice. Oh, yes, we did have to cut back the cabinet sides a bit. BUT, since prior to this cooktop, we had a 36" Thermador radiant cooktop, the cabinet had already been cut. It's lasted for 14 years with no problem. We expect to get 14 yrs from this one!

Wallycat: I was in your spot this spring/summer and ended up with the 800 instead of the 500. It was a decision based on reading comments on GW from folks who said they liked having the controls on the stainless strip instead of on the glass surface. I've come to understand why. If you have one of those smart phones with a touch screen, you'll understand. If your fingers are wet - or, it seems to me, too dry (if that makes sense) -- there isn't enough spark to communicate with the touch pad on the ceramic surface. Finger condition, though, makes no difference to selections made on the stainless strip. (With the 800, you still use the touch screen to select the burners you'll use.) Maybe I'm just rationalizing my decision, but I think that for something I use every day, it was worth the extra price for the selections on the strip. As to the boost issue, I just tried this experiment, I have a 36", so the two 7" burners on the left share power. I put one of the 7" burners on boost and then turned on the other 7" one. Turning on the second burner resulted in the cooktop automatically moving the first burner's cook level from boost to "9." I was able to put both burners on "9." In day-to-day cooking, though, I've not found the boost situation to be a problem. Probably because I haven't needed to use boost on two "shared" burners at the same time. Usually if I need boost on two, it's the large center burner + one of the side burners. So there's not been a sharing issue. Oh, yes, keep your eyes out for Bosch promos. The company seems to cycle at $300 off promo on cooktops with regularity.

We agonized over the same decision but ended up choosing the SHV7PT53UC, which is sitting in our garage waiting to be installed. We paid $1178 for it and received a $100 rebate from Bosch and a $75 rebate from our electric company. So I justified going with the more expensive model by telling myself I didn't really pay over $1000 for a dishwasher - well, just $3 more + tax :-) The primary reason I even considered this model is because supposedly, the 3rd rack is different - flexible, with the ability to move the sides up and down. I don't know if this will be useful or not but since the 3rd rack was the MAIN thing I cared about in a new D/W, I wanted to make sure it was as awesome as possible! I agree that a person probably can't tell the difference between 42 and 44dB and I don't know if I'll even use/need the water softener (although my salesperson was sure that I would and sold me salt), and the remaining time light vs. the info light was not a big deal either. So it really came down to the 3rd rack and the fact that it wasn't THAT much more - unlike the Thermador induction cooktop that I really wanted vs. the Bosch 500 Series that I bought :-)

I have a utensil drawer under the Bosch 800 induction cooktop. It was no problem for the cabinet maker and we have had no issues with it. -- never gets too warm in the drawer. You will notice that the sides are scooped to accommodate the cooktop.

Nothing has burned on the top. I use glass cleaner to remove splatters. Spills can be wiped up. The stove came with a paste type glass cleaner for heavy spills.

I have the Bosch 500 30” model NIT5068UC and it has proven reliable over the last 18 months of use. I don’t like it as well as my old Bosch 300 — that was the perfect cooktop — but Bosch no longer sells it. Neither made any noise to speak of, although you can hear a very faint buzz on the BOOST setting. But that is something you’d use rarely and briefly. No, paper towels and newspapers do not burn. It is perfectly safe to use them, or to use a thin silicone protection pad, which I do when cooking with my super-heavy Staub cast iron.

This cooktop search has been a long, difficult struggle for you. I hope you can find something you like.

I bought a second-hand 4 y.o 30" Bosch 800 series: NIT8066SUC (Stainless rim on top and bottom) for a fraction of a new Bosch cooktop. The control on it is easy to use: it depicts 4 separate icons representing the burners that you select before using the single universal power bar. We use either a paper towel or parchment paper to prevent scratches under our cast iron skillet on the highest heat to sear meats. The paper towel does have brown markings, but has never burned. I like MizLizzie suggestion of a thin silicone protection pad; I'll look for one to try. We used inexpensive single countertop induction plates for 4 months before deciding to get the Bosch to replace a broken 20 yr old 30" electric radiant. Still love it after 2 months of solid use by 3 members daily.. No complaint by 30 - 60 y.o hearing of very low level almost undetectable hum/sound

I have one but 36 inch for about 3 months now. yes the paper towel works as expected.

Boils water in seconds, all works as expected. go from boil to slight simmer in seconds.

absolute control.

Negatives : controls take a bit of getting use to. Push to turn on, the push the burner and the push the level. the four burners on the outside edge should be bigger I expect on 30 this would be even more so.

If you remove pans and set them on other areas of the cooktop sometimes it goes into an error. everything blinks and it does not recover quickly.
