What LVP color works with honey oak?
I'm in the process of purchasing a vacation lake home that was built in 1990. This will be for our use, but also short-term vacation rental. At this time the interior updates worth mentioning that we have planned include granite countertops, single basin sink, new appliances, new kitchen lighting (good-bye lightbox), tile backsplash, and LVP on the main floor and lower level. I'm trying to find an LVP from BuildDirect.com in the $1.99 to $2.09 range that will work with all of this oak.

Comments (9)It's funny that you phrase it as "matches better". In general when designing around wood-tone cabinets, many people are trying to create a contrast, picking a tone that's either noticably lighter or quite a bit darker than the cabinets. Honey-oak is very medium, so either light or dark could be a good option, and depending on the room you could either go warm browns (cream/chocolate) or cool grays (pale ash, dakr charcoal/black). Comments (6)We only had a few minutes to chat, but she said she probably could not afford granite. I don't know her budget yet either. I am going to suggest to her this site and also Pinterest to get some ideas. She's not a computer person so I wanted to take photos of ideas and show her. Comments (1)Your rooms and furnishings are all neutral enough from what I can see that you could do any number of colors/patterns - depends on what you like, or maybe what is in adjacent rooms. You could stick with curtains on the slider and coordinating or matching fabric valance over the sink, or do a blind on one or the other. Curtains are probable most cost effective, though, since you just did new roof and siding. I would probably look at places like Target, IKEA, JCP and Pottery Barn for ideas. In person this flooring appears much lighter. I actually have this in my kitchen and we have a 90's house with lots of wood in the same color tone as the lake house I'm buying.

3 years agoIt looks a bit better from this perspective. That being said, the busyness and overall darkness and having so much color in the flooring are things I've questioned. I suspect it would wear on me. In my opinion, the Mannington Meridian Stucco would work better. My BF was surprised that the image of it from their site was the same flooring that we have in our kitchen, as it reads much more yellow and darker in the image than it does in real life.

3 years agoI have vinyl tile in graphite in my basement, it’s a much more consistent color, although a bit darker. I got it from lumber liquidators.

3 years agoWe were at the house today for the inspections, so we brought some flooring samples. It was overcast and rainy, plus one light on the upper beams was out, so this was a pretty dark day.
We've eliminated the samples on the board on the right.
