Using an interior designer during remodel design?
Comments (4)Guess that all depends on your comfort level with the architect plan = necessary/good idea? Sometimes a designer can be beneficial in perfecting a design that you may prefer yet just don't think you can accomplish on your own. Selecting a furniture type, interior colors, room arrangements, convienience, etc can sometimes be a daunting task and assistance from a professional designer can be of some benefit, while other times a simple "do it yourself" design is very suitable and less expensive. I am not sure it is necessary to secure the services of a designer and an architect at the same time unless you are unsure of the architects ability to draw proper plans and provide suitable space/areas for desired decor. That being said. I am sure there are those that would not undertake a major remodel without the assistance of a designer and I am certain designers will tell me I know not what I am talking about. So the decesion is yours to decide. You must only satisfy yourself and not necessarily the ideas of friends eventhough they mean well. Perhaps your friend does not feel comfortable in desiginig such a space, thus the suggestion, do you? You have now answer your own question. Good luck in your decision....See MoreCan I work with an interior designer like this?
Comments (13)I wouldn't recommend either a designer or a decorator for a lighting plan. I'd recommend a lighting designer. You can usually find one at the higher end lighting stores, and they can save you a lot of money and grief over lighting placement and types by developing an overall plan, sort of like a master landscape plan. Or sometimes some of the larger electrical firms have a lighting designer consultant available. Either way, for an older home, you also need your electrician involved from the beginning with your lighting choices because you may have certain tradeoffs you need to make because of the home's structure, or you may not have enough electrical service for a modern home's needs. Also, to get the most out of the time that you spend with any designer, especially if you just want to use them for a periodic consultant, you need to create your own to scale floor plans with either graph paper or software. If you use the old fashioned paper, create to scale templates of your furniture to be able to move it around on the graph. If this is beyond your skill level, then you will need to pay for more time from your consultant to do this for you. A floor plan is an essential part of any home design....See Morethe most important softwares for working in an interior desigm company

Comments (6)Interest and excitement with a bit of quirkiness are big sellers in the airbnb business. I know of one very successful investor who's been raving about an MCM home with zebra wallpaper in one of the bedrooms. He says that will be a real draw! to clients and plans to buy it to add to his stable of 10 homes. Show us what you do! I've been a vacation rental property manager for nearly 20 years, and I say you should go for it! Just don't let anything get tacky or too stimulating to allow for relaxing and falling asleep....See Morearcy_gw
