brushed nickel or black matte pulls for white cabinets?

Most of the photos I see have a sliverish pull. chrome or brushed satin. My original impression was that black matte provided some contrast and interest to all white shaker cabinets. But it may be too busy and distracting - perhaps that is why most photos have stainless/chrome pulls. I have stainless steel appliances, no other black accents though the granite has some black speckling. Any wisdom?

I used brushed nickel. But I like a more feminine look.

too many variables. you'd have to post pictures.

why not get a sample of each color and try them on your cabinet to see what you like better?

No pics, still in the design/order stage. Well I wish I were at the order stage. Yes it is something that can be tested out w samples. Thanks for the posted photos, really helpful.

I'd go with glossy white on the subway tiles - it would be a beautiful contrast to the granite. I'm partial to brushed nickel hardware. I have it in my curent kitchen and am doing it again in my kitchen reno that starts next week. But, there is no wrong answer. I just think the black reads a bit more contemporary and the tin ceiling is more traditional old world.

I chose the pendant color after the cabs, counters and sink were in. I bought pendants in a couple of different finishes at the local big box, and carefully held them up to see which I liked. Then I carefully repacked and returned them. It was a lot easier to choose the color when I could see it in the space. I did this with the hardware, too, and I was surprised that the finish I expected to use didn't work. So keep an open mind - there might even be other options in the "gray or black metal" family that could be perfect.

Hi again Holiday, Do you have any inspiration pics? Something you've seen here, houzz dot com, or anywhere else (online, magazines, etc.)? Your granite (based on the google pics I found) has a darker look to it. If your pulls are small like in the computer redering, either black or silver will be fine. If you go with long pulls you'll notice much more of an impact with black whereas the silver will be a softer look just as Ilana posted above. Just like suzannesl posted, you don't need to match your other fixtures, but adding long black pulls will definitely pop more than silver pulls. Good luck - it's a tough decision.

What did you end up doing? I'm debating the same thing now for our powder room. It already has a white pedestal sink. We are painting the bathroom a very light beige and replacing all the current chrome with either brushed nickel or black (vanity light, towel ring, TP holder and faucet) and I can't decide which.

I'm not sure! Is that the size of the inner portion of the cabinet?

the top to bottom height. I have 30 inch uppers now, contemplating 36 inch replacements, but wrestling with $$

If you dont count the molding at the top, they're 35.5. If you include the molding they're 38.5.
