Help - Tudor Curb Appeal Update

Hi all. This is my first post here. We have owned our house for 2+ years. It is considered a Tudor facade house. We are deciding to move in a few years and want to update the front to improve the curb appeal. Couple of issues with the front -

Stucco board has moisture damage underneath windows
I added new upper level Dark Bronze windows and i need to add new trim and i am not sure of the color for the trim. Will be replacing the windows on the lower level as well
Garage door needs replacement and probably the color should be matched to the trim
the sliding glass enclosed porch is in bad shape and needs to be redone or removed.

I would appreciate any ideas for porch, facade, trim-stucco-gutter colors and anything else you see wrong. Haha.. Thanks a lot!

If this is the last paint job before you plan to sell, do a google streetview drive around your neighborhood to see what new colors are on similar Tudor facade houses. Or take a walk. Some areas are conservative (all Tudors are brown and white), others have more variety (green, gray, tan).

Show a series of slightly overlapping pictures that pan from left to right, taken from the same, central location at a moderate distance away from the house front. Show a wide enough pan that we see the neighboring houses.

Your house is so nice! I really like the pic houssaon shared. Painting the trim black could give the house a more contemporary feel without touching the brick. I'd also suggest a deeper foundation bed around the house (5' or more added) and incorporate flowering shrubs for a softer look than a regimental line of evergreens. The tree is way too close to the house, but it's so lovely looking, and it appears to be well cared for. I'd be hesitant to remove it before finding a replacement tree for elsewhere in the yard. I'd hire an arborist right away to gauge the tree's health if you haven't done so already.

Thanks @Nelly Bluth definitely think that some dimension would help and thought about doing something above the entryway. I think cost might be the primary concern for that type of addition though, perhaps down the line could be something to add. Were you thinking of something just above the entryway or something that would extend further the the window on the left hand side? We do have to replace the windows regardless for life cycle updates so will likely do either way.

While it will shrink your side yard, you might consider planting a couple of rows of cedar trees or other evergreen trees or shrubs )that keep their leaves year round) to create a "green fence" between the railroad track and your home. Not sure it would help with the sound but it certainly wouldn't hurt. After you plant the first row, plant the second row with those trees/shrubs blocking the view of any space between that first row.

IMO the biggest improvement is to remove that fake tudor trim and then paint the white part a nice darker color either that is in the brick or a nice sage green

I agree about trim removal...Horizontal siding on the white area may be an improvement and would cover any damage from removing trims

I was thinking of changing the facade but when one of the architects i talked to recommended just repairing and painting. Maybe i will get another opinion. I need to find the right professional, the architect didn't want to do the job since it did not involve major updates. thanks @Patricia Colwell Consulting

Really great suggestion from Patricia Colwell. I would remove the tudor trim and do any necessary stucco repair. Remove that weird sliding glass door from the porch and rework the porch to be a nice classic open porch.

I agree with Patricia Colwell and the others - remove the "Tudor" trim. I like the idea of painting the white stucco (after you repair it) to either the sage green or a color within your brick.

pricklypearcactus is right about the sliding glass door entrance. Make that entrance a proper front door. Your home will be much more desirable when it comes to selling to have an actual front door (with sidelites since you have the room) rather than a sliding glass door entrance.

Don't forget to put in a wide welcoming walkway and beef up your landscaping too like the insp pic below:

If you go with the darker siding and change out the SGD, you could end up with a very attractive home (preferably without shutters!) like below.

Thanks @Denita. Yes, i plan on removing the sliding glass door. The front door is behind that and is actually a double door.
