Linda, it was a thought to leave them all be, but my little Hopi has 8 seed pods so far, yeah, they are tiny, but it seems like a lot.... Besides, how am I ever going to find enough space to grow out that many seeds? Lol, should have thought about it before pollinating, but the one was red, the other Geneva, this one fantasy, and then there's the variegated one... Not that I labelled anything - for some reason I thought I could keep track of them :-p seen as the parents are NOIDS, it is futile anyways, more a fun project than a hybridizing effort... JoJo, Cut/break them off. The pods that you want to grow on, leave them on the plant until they turn brownish yellow on their own and start to split. Then you can remove them. Now there is always the possibility that your pods will not grow to maturity,(happens all the time) and if and when the pedicel (the smaller stem that attaches the pod to the scape) starts to shrivel, that usually means the end. If you're not successful and you've got a hankering to grow some seeds, I'll have plenty to share in the coming weeks, and would be glad to send you some so you can experiment.. Donna

Thanks, tdogdad! I didn't know if that would harm things or not. It is well protected from wind by the branches, so I may leave it be this time. I mentioned to some neighbors that I had a seed pod. They have all come to look at it. Even my botanist friend. None have ever had pods - which I found curious since there are some nice trees on my street. I'll bet they just didn't notice them. Anyway, hopefully I can keep them to maturity!

Remember that the seed pods were fertilized by some other color. So the color may be close to the mother plant or the pollinator. Some breeders are getting better true colors Down the road let us see what colors you get.
