Mother was out in the garden hanging up the laundry one sunny day and out of nowhere a blue & white parakeet flew right down and landed on Mother's shoulder. She nibbled lovingly on Mother's ear and mother said, "Well hello there" and the bird said, "Ooooh. Hello!" And Mother said, "So, who are you?" The bird replied, "Pretty Bird!" So, she kept her name. She never flew away after finding a nice home, having no desire to try living out in the big free world ever again. We never did find out from whence she came. I would like to add about the Mexican Love Bird. . . . . .that after cursing out the preacher and telling him to "Go to Hell!", and saying things like "Well, -uck a duck!", our love bird never said any of the really foul swear words ever again. Mother said it must have just been a cleansing thing for her, but I have always wondered just what Mother did to make her "repent" and come clean.??? And as for our parakeet, Pretty Bird? After her jello bath, she began saying, "Oooooh, Pretty Bird. Pretty Bird is a dirty bird!" We kids got so much fun out of her. She loved Orange Jell-O, not just for bathing but for eating it as well. She especially loved it when mother made it into a salad by adding grated carrots and chopped walnuts. Yum yum! She would walk across the table and sample everything. If she found something she particularly didn't like, she would make a mess of it and have a fit! So afterward she had to kept up during meals. She would fuss and squawk at us from her cage, demanding to be loosed at once! As you said, covering her cage was helpful in quieting her down. She would then say, "Good night Pretty Bird!" which would then of course, set us all into a round of giggles. ~Annie...See MorePictures anyone?
Comments (30)Anna, that snowflake euphorbia is about 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide( I had to trim it back a little). It starts blooming about Thanksgiving and continues until January with the most fragrant flowers. The rest of the year it looks like an ordinary, boring bush. Like the Poinsettia, it needs to be shielded from artificial light after dark or it will not bloom. Your garden just makes me drool,a picture of perfection. I am so happy with all the pictures that everyone posted. We live in Florida so that we can garden all year and this time of year, it's more fun! Regina...See MoreRepeat floof! Online orders!
Comments (40)Wanted something quick and easy to make to eat so I got some food from Walmart delivered. I ordered some hamburger buns and they replaced my 8 pack with a 12 pack for some reason. I am one person, hard for me to eat 8, let alone 12. I wanted the buns to make some sloppy joes, quick and easy since I'm not feeling great right now. I bought some salad makings and fresh sweet peppers to snack on, among other things since I've eaten canned/frozen junk all week. No energy to really make a meal and didn't want to eat the burgoo and white bean chicken chilli meals I made up for work and froze. I almost ordered a huge box of Hebrew National hot dogs in blankets but decided against it. I did order a box of Jimmie Dean frozen frittatas. I had ordered some flower bulbs a month or so ago and they came today. Hoping I feel better so I can plant them. I also have some garden stakes that were backordered months ago that are arriving soon. They're cute, multi colored spirals. My bread machine is supposed to be mailed out mid month. I was getting updates from ABT since ordering it in April but they didn't send me a new update and it didn't come by the end of last month like they had told me so I emailed them. Not holding my breath....See MoreAre holidays returning to normal ...
Comments (58)I wish it was over, but it's not. I've lost an uncle and my mom's close friend, pre-vax. My mom's BFF went to her family Christmas and the oposite MIL died after exposure from the holiday. No celebration this year, they learned the hard way. My aunt died after vaccine, no health concerns, just age. Mom had it last month, she has asthma and takes Nucala. She openly admits without the vaccine, she would have died. She spent 2 days in er/ hospital. Tired of hearing it's not real. It's real to me. I am not afraid, just considerate. I teach, taught last year face to face and virtual to the tune of 80 hours a week- everyday, all year long- never closed, for little pay, VA- one of the richest states that pay teachers the worst. We're currently talking about only vaccinated can come to gathering with a negative test. Not afraid- considerate. What has happened to human decency?...See Moreamylou321
