For instance, I'm generally fond of Fire Island and have three in my garden where I have very few duplicates. But this year they're all slug eaten, so I can't bring myself to vote for it. Also realizing that I generally have a lot more competition in the medium and large categories (for yellows, greens and blues) than the others. I won't vote for something I don't like in the other categories, but I may not like it as much as something in the more competitive categories.

Consumer Reports is not a very good place to rely on for window ratings. To begin with there are over 1200 window manuf. in the U.S. alone. Consumer Reports only tests a handful and out of those, the only ones they select for testing are windows that can be purchased at a retail store. So unless the manuf. is sold at the retail level, it's never tested. The better quality vinyl windows aren't sold thru retail stores with the exception of Simonton and they can usually be purchased for much less from a local window installer than hardware stores. Much better to do your own research thru NFRC, AAMA etc. instead of taking the seemingly easy way and allowing someone else (CR) to think for you.

I also like the black, three grid. I like the contrast from the black, and it looks nice with your roof color. Would also look nice with black light fixtures, door hardware, house numbers, etc. Not sure it's an option, but cream/off white would also look nice IMO.
